Thomas's obituary
Thomas David Robison
Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather
Thomas Robison, 69, of Georgetown, Texas, formerly of Ansonia, Connecticut, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Though the fight was long and difficult, Tom defied many odds, giving his family and beloved grandchildren the gift of more precious time together.
Tom was a man of many passions and simple joys. He loved cooking, hunting, gardening, and canning. He took special pride in his tomato garden each year. Tom found happiness in the rhythm of the seasons, from picking berries for homemade jams in summer to gathering apples for applesauce each fall. Some of his favorite days were spent with his family at the Durham Fair on crisp autumn afternoons. He had a love for all kinds of music and took great joy in building his record collection over the years.
After graduating high school, Tom proudly served four years in the United States Air Force. He carried that pride and dedication throughout his life, always exemplifying strength, loyalty, and love for his country. After many years working as a carpenter foreman building bridges, Tom retired with a legacy that stretched across Connecticut. If you’ve ever driven over an interstate highway there, chances are he had a hand in building part of it. If something was broken, you called Tom. There was no challenge he couldn’t solve and no friend he wouldn’t lend a hand to.
Above all else, Tom was devoted to his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Patricia; his daughters Christina (Sean) Carr and Jennifer Robison; and his four grandchildren—Liam, Elora, Ezri, and Gwendolyn Carr—who were the light of his life. He also leaves behind his siblings Roy (Theresa) Robison, Linda (Thomas) Lawson, Pamela (Jack) Paine, Lisa Merwin and Herb (Joyce) Hamerlynck. Tom was predeceased by his parents, Roy and Joyce Robison.
Per his wishes, there will be no formal services. Instead, the family will honor his life with a celebration of love and laughter at a later date, a true reflection of the way he lived and loved.
Tom’s strength, humor and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
