My condolences to Tom’s family. He was a wonderful person who always had a smile on his face and a nice thing to say. He will be missed.

There are people that you meet along the path of life that within the first moments of meeting them you know that your life has improved because your paths have crossed. Tom was one of those people that enhanced the lives of those that he met. He was a genuine person filled with vibrancy for life, enjoying every bit of it with that big smile across his face. It’s rare to meet a person who was as hard-working as Tom was that smiled as much as he did. Thinking back, I can’t remember a time when I saw him and there wasn’t a big smile spread across his face followed by a firm handshake or a big hug. Tom had the right kind of energy for this world and it will be missed greatly.
One of the first interactions that I had with Tom was a moment that easily defines how he lived life and why I instantly liked him. Dan and Corey had moved to North Carolina for school and we had orchestrated the purchase of a townhouse for them to live in while they were there in school. One of the first trips down there the three of us ended up driving back to New Jersey together. On the way back we decided to make a detour to stop at Corey’s parents’ house. I only knew Tom and Diane as Corey’s parents at that point and hadn’t spent any “real” time with them, but on this detour they suggested that we stay for dinner. Suggested was more like commanded, but I would come to find that was exactly how they operated, you weren’t going to just pass through their neighborhood, you were going to stop and stay for a few hours of food and fun because anything else was clearly ridiculously inadequate.
We arrived at Tom and Diane’s and the front door was already open before we even pulled into the driveway, both of them smiling, happy for our arrival. Inside was a big spaghetti dinner waiting for us. The food and drinks were excellent and the company even better and it was as if I had been related to Tom and Diane my entire life, not having only recently come to know them.
That memory is exactly how I will remember Tom. He never stopped smiling, people were instantly happier when they were around him, and everyone was family, there was always a seat at the table for you. The happiness that Tom had will be missed by all that knew him, but we are all better off for having had him in our lives.
Rest in Peace

Tom was my dirt bike buddy back when we were young. We had a lot of fun adventures with those dirt bikes. Steph and I were greatly saddened by his passing. Tom was a great guy who was a lot of fun be around. Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.
