Suzanne's obituary

Suzanne Metoff, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully with family by her side on November 15, 2023. Born on December 30, 1943, Suzanne touched the lives of many with her caring nature, zest for life, and unwavering positivity. She will be remem- bered for her warm smile, her infectious laughter, and her ability to make anyone feel like family.

Suzanne is survived by her loving husband, Carl Metoff, their children; Jennifer Granda & her husband Joseph, Jeffrey Smith & his wife Michelle, Michael Smith & his wife Debbie, Julie Jones (step-daughter) & her husband Bob, and Kevin Metoff (step-son) & his wife Dale. She was also grandmother to Matilda Granda, Aiden Smith, Alex & Brian Smith, Lindsay & Logan Jones who will miss her deeply. She was preceded by her parents Katherine and Curtis Reecer.

In 1988, she married Carl Metoff, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter & never-ending adventures including living the “Beach Life” in Florida. Some of their favorite activities were cheering on the New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Lightning and Green Bay Packers. Beyond their eclectic taste in sports teams she and Carl were enthusiastic golfers supporting clubs and youth programs encouraging new players.

A registered nurse by profession, Suzanne was a proud graduate of Owens Commu- nity College. She exhibited a strong passion for lifelong learning and helping others, a thread that spanned through her personal and professional life. She spent more than a decade working for Kimelman, Miedler & Anders Dermatology in Toledo, OH before moving to Florida to run a home health and advocacy business. Suzanne supported numerous friends and families navigating the aging and end of life process with dignity. She retired from nursing to become a flight attendant for many years so she and her husband could travel the world.

Suzanne left an indelible mark on everyone she met. In her last years she loved taking walks around Waneka Lake in Lafayette area and having picnics with her husband. Her favorite vacation spot was Hawaii, a place where she felt a deep sense of peace and tranquility.

In the wake of her loss, we remember Suzanne Metoff as a beacon of joy and kind- ness. Her commitment to family, her loving spirit, and her joy for life will continue to inspire us. Suzanne’s final wish was to continue to help others learn through an anatomical donation to CU Boulder Medical Community. May her soul rest in peace.

In lieu of flowers or other gifts we'd be blessed & grateful if you'd select  a non-profit to donate.

Suzanne's love of learning transferred to her grand-daughter Matilda who attends RMCA. Their mission is to equip and inspire our students and families to a lifelong passion for truth, goodness, and beauty. Through our application of Christian educational philosophy and principles, we offer families a community to mature and grow together.

Suzanne's passion for golf and learning is a natural fit for First Tee Lake Erie. Their mission is to positively impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values, and promote healthy choices through golf.
