Steve's obituary
Steve Eubank passed away after a long battle with kidney disease on October 22, 2024, at the age of 74 in Urbandale, Iowa. Born on October 4, 1950 in Ames, Iowa, he lived a life marked by his unwavering positivity, dedication to family, and a commendable career.
Steve spent 32 years with John Deere, initially serving as an Area Service Manager in Kansas before transitioning to Training and Development within the North American Ag Division. His professional life was not just a job but a platform where he mentored many, leaving a lasting impact on his colleagues, the next generation of Marketing Reps and the industry as a whole.
Outside of his career, Steve was involved with various Optimist Clubs for over 40 years. His commitment to mentoring youth was a testament to his belief in giving back.
Steve's passion for sports led him to coaching his kids even when it meant flying by the seat of his pants. In his spare time, he could often be found in front of his grill testing various recipes for others to enjoy. After retirement, traveling brought adventures from daily trips to international destinations and everything in between.
He is survived by Kathi, his loving wife of 52 years; his daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Chris Ybarra and their children, Oscar, Elijah and Isabella; his son and daughter-in-law, Wyatt and Melinda Eubank and their children, Reiland and Rhett; his siblings, Ellen, Lynn, Mark and Kent. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Bill and Kathryn, and his brother, John.
Steve's enduring positivity radiated warmth and encouragement to everyone around him. As a man of faith, his religious beliefs gave him strength and comfort through all stages of his journey.
Services will be at Saint Mary of Nazareth, 4600 Meredith Dr, Des Moines, Iowa 50310 on Saturday, November 2, 2024. Visitation will begin at 11 am followed by the funeral Mass at noon.
