Stanley's obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stanley From, who departed this life on July 23, 2024, just days after celebrating his 70th birthday. Known to many as Stan, he was a man full of life, loud, talkative, friendly, warm, and was a guy who never met a stranger. He had a heart that was always ready to help someone in need.

Born on July 17, 1954, Stanley had quite a love for life and people. His jovial personality was infectious and he often shared his enthusiasm for TexMex and seafood. Although he could enjoy a good rootbeer, he could almost always be seen with a cup of coffee in hand. He was also a breakfast person and could eat breakfast for breakfast, lunch and dinner. His daughter Leane took advantage of this and had Daddy-daughter, Saturday morning dates with him regularly at Cici's Cafe in Tomball for their Saturday breakfasts. He could also be seen watching anything "hunting or fishing" on TV or going to any movie that his son invited him to see. He learned to love golf from his father and enjoyed playing with friends, business associates and his own son over the years. When it comes to watching sporting events, his greatest love was watching his granddaughters performing, to whom he was utterly devoted.

Stanley, often seen sitting in his recliner or sitting at his desk, could be heard talking on the phone. He was a friend to so many and was always reaching out to someone to check in on them to see how they were doing. He loved going cruising, regardless of the destination and he enjoyed dining at local spots like Tony's Pizza and Gringo's.

Stanley married his beloved wife, Donna, in 1973 and they built a wonderful life together. He was a dedicated father to Mitchell From and Leane Shives, father-in-law to Ann From and Randy Shives, and a doting grandfather to Lindsey, Ashlyn and Rebecca. His family was his greatest pride and joy and he considered being a father and grandfather among his greatest accomplishments, along with creating a successful business.

He was a follower of Jesus and was an attendee at HNW Church. His faith was integral to his life and he demonstrated his commitment to selflessness and servant leadership every day. He leaves behind a legacy of a man who was always rooted in love, compassion, and concern.

A Memorial service for Stanley will be held on August 3, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Houston Northwest Church located at 19911 Texas 249 Access Rd, Houston, TX 77070. As we bid farewell to this incredible man, we remember him not only for his achievements but more so for the lessons of love and compassion he imparted, and his unwavering dedication to family.
