Best-selling Author Sidney Dale Kirkpatrick III Photos with his very own reimagined Skye Boat Song.

A visual journey through the life of Sidney Dale Kirkpatrick III — writer, seeker, husband, father, grandfather and remarkable story teller— told through photographs spanning many chapters of his remarkable life. The accompanying music is Sid’s beloved Scottish “Skye Boat Song,” with lyrics re-imagined by wife, Nancy Kirkpatrick, and daughter Vienna Thurlbeck, and with music adapted by Vienna using AI. May the images and melody together carry Sid’s spirit onward across time and tide. (Music copyright © Vienna Thurlbeck.)

What was the most fun you ever had with Sidney?

LOL, all my time with Sid was fun! When Sid gets into a story, it's fun to learn and at the same time see the twinkle in his eyes as the story develops.  Its as if your transported into the story seeing first hand what he is sharing. Fun, is also happening when Sid finds select information that he somehow finds and shares with folks. Delving into the old technologies at ARE, Sid brought forward such details that it was/is fun to continue researching. I miss SID!

Met Sidney at the ARE bookstore way back when, long after I knew about him and read multiple books by him. Utterly impressed by his graciousness, openness, emotional availability and his total humility. My sense now is to wish him well on his soujourn after his soul apparently said, 'Sidney, times up'...you need to move on and perhaps share what you have learned with others, just as the EC 'source' told Edgar about when Glady's developed TB and the 'Source' told Edgar 'you may pass as well, since you are NEEDED on the other side'...a lot. I feel the same 'called' Sidney and as much as my heart loved and loves both Sid & Nancy, the EC 'source' tells us, 'don't hold him back'....He passed through God's 'other door', for a reason that was/is this. 'God needed him more there, than here. Bye Sid, love you and thanks for you work. Dr. Tom

Sorry to hear Sid passed away! He had a great life! My mom and dad knew him and we all liked meeting him at family get togethers, and we all travelled up north for their wedding! Which was beautiful! He was a great spouse for Nancy!

Hello Nancy- I just came back from maternity leave a few days ago and heard the tragic news about sid leaving this world so suddenly and unexpectedly! My heart is broken for you and your family. Condolences 💐

Sid was just one of the most wonderful and amazing people. Even on his hardest days, he was so stoic and gentle and kind and patient. We were honored to have met him and have shared in his lovely personality and funny jokes and wise words. I know he was such a force in his prime and even when he wasn’t in his prime, he still was a force. He was tough and resilient and just so strong throughout all of the trials that he faced.

We are now left with Only good memories of him. I hope and pray that you are holding on ok and although I know your heart is broken, I hope you remember to tell Yourself that you were the reason his life was so rich and full and blessed. You were his guardian angel and his valiant protector

And advocate and without you, he wouldn’t have gotten the time that he had.

We fought very hard and worked hard for him, but you worked and fought harder. Which just showed how much love and fierce devotion you had for him And I’m Sure that came as a result of the beautiful selfless love he had for you!

I’m sure this is hard but I know as time goes by his lovely memory will last and the hard times will Fade away.

Big hugs to You and yours. 💖

May God bless you all with His peace and faith.  All ARE members send blessings.

I so appreciate being able to view the memorial service for Sid.  Only time will ease our pain.  Hold on to your happy memories to carry you through this time of sadness.  Love, Alice

Ed and I like to play golf by walking in the late afternoon, a quiet time. One day, a good-looking guy came up and asked to join us. Playing with Sidney became a highlight of our winters in Florida, expanding to dinners with him and Nancy and golfing with Vienna and others.  Due to his lovableness, it took a while for us to figure out his renown as a filmmaker and author. We just knew that we loved him.

Sid was a dear and treasured friend. I feel like our friendship was a journey itself- from film industry ambitious endeavors beginning with A Cast of Killers, after relocating to NY a visit Stony Brook, a brief dalliance with The Culper Spy Ring, Nancy and Sid visiting me and DeLaune in Irvington, NY bringing as a gift a tent so I could share it with my sons in our backyard throughout the summer as he recalled fondly doing himself. Sprinkled in are other adventures together including seeing Tim Blake Nelson as Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream in Central Park.

I have all the books beside me as write this and I realize, though non-fiction, Sidney is the protagonist in each. He was King Vidor solving William Desmond Tayor's murder, he was the outcast marine professor boldly outsmarting the cartel leader on Norman's Cay, he was Edgar Cayce foretelling the future and revealing the mysteries of the Atlantis, he discovered and protected the lost pre-Incan tombs, he was Eakins choosing to favor shadow in his artwork when the buyers wanted light; all of them were and will forever be Sidney.

I have not had the pleasure of meeting in person Nicholas, Alexander, Vienna or Mercedes (and Sienna), but important, mindful, magnificent updates were always front and center in our conversations with Sidney and Nancy. Your eulogies were beautiful at the memorial today.

I am so sorry these last years were difficult.

We love you, Nancy.

Our memories of Sid will forever be a blessing.

It has been a pleasure having Sidney as an in-law and friend.

This photo shows Sidney and Nancy when they were speaking for our local ARE conference in Lake Tahoe. They also spoke at Asilomar with Charles Thomas and Leslie CAYCE in 2007. So many beautiful memories of our times together including when he visited our study group here in Marin County. What great stories he would tell. He also supported my work as a budding writer and published my article when they were editing the Venture Inward Magazine. Sidney you will be greatly missed! And always appreciated. Much love to you on your new journey!

In Memory of Sidney Kirkpatrick

It’s difficult to put into words what Sidney Kirkpatrick meant to me, both as a storyteller and as a friend. Sidney became a vital part of the journey to uncover the truth behind the Jeff Boppre case — not only through his remarkable skill as a writer and investigator, but through his unshakable belief in the importance of the story itself.

Sidney once told me he had no idea this project would follow him for so many years. Yet he carried it with the quiet persistence of someone who knew that stories of injustice and truth have a way of finding their time. Over the years, he unearthed a treasure trove of documents, audio tapes, and video archives — material that might otherwise have been lost to time. He entrusted me with all of it, as if passing a torch — not just of information, but of purpose.

My family and I were often the hosts when Sidney came to visit.  Even though it was an open offer, he never hosted us, but when he came to our home for interviews, he was an incredible guest — gracious, humble, and endlessly curious. We shared long conversations, laughter, and moments of deep reflection that I will always treasure.

Sidney was a generous friend and one of the most captivating people I have ever known. His depth reached far beyond this story that came to bind us — he was endlessly curious, reflective, and alive with ideas.

There is nothing I wish more than that Sidney could see the work we are now completing — a work that exists, in large part, because of his dedication, his trust, and his friendship. His voice, his insight, and his presence remain woven into every frame and every word.

Thank you, Sidney — for believing this story mattered, and for believing in me. And above everything else, thank you, Sidney, for who you were to us all. We got it from here.

Your friend, Douglas Thornton

Nancy, Sid’s children, family, and friends: I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Sidney was such a compassionate and smart person, and his talents as a writer and movie director touched countless lives. His creativity and vision left a lasting mark, and his kindness made everyone around him feel valued. I feel grateful to have known him, and I hope his memory continues to inspire us all. May you find comfort in the love and support of those who care about you.  I feel so blessed to have spent time with Sid, such an intelligent, empathetic, honest, humble and respectful person… who greatly admired my culture.

Sidney made a profound impact on everyone that met him. His honest sincerity came out in everything that he did.

Sidney and Nancy are the bridge that motivated us to go to Virginia Beach to the ARE congress.  It was their efforts to track Faith Harding down and get her to go to the conference.

The Fun began getting of the hotel elevator and almost walking straight into Sidney. I recognized him instantly. I had a feeling that this would be a great week. Meeting like minded souls that love Edgar Cayce as much as I do.

We ended up at the VIP table with Sidney, Nancy and Faith. It was a wonderful reunion of souls sharing with one another. Sidney brought along his cool new auroscope and let me try it out. Sidney was so fun to talk with.  He is a walking dictionary of Cayce stories.

We remember one night in Arizona visiting late into the evening with Sidney, Nancy and Faith. The conversations were so full of love and light. I will always remember Sidney that way.

We will miss him dearly.

We wish Nancy and her beautiful family heart felt blessing of love.

God Bless Sidney Kirkpatrick.

Love.

My Condolences today to Sidneys Family.   I  am attending today virtually because I was a Board Member at The ARE of NY when Sidney and Nancy gave lectures in 2015 and 2016.

Sidney was a very sweet and kind person.  And I am grateful for all the lectures Sid and Nancy put together when ARE of NY was going thru a difficult time.

sincerely,

Catherine Outeiral,

ARE of NY

Sid was generous with his many gifts. I remain grateful for the fruitful pathway of historical research he guided me toward. Dr. Brenda Franey

In Memory of Sid

When Terry and I first moved to Peninsula Lake, Sid and Nancy were among the very first people to welcome us. They opened the door to a community that quickly felt like home, and their warmth, humour, and steady presence were exactly what Pen Lake is all about.

When Terry passed away suddenly, they were there for me again – with kind words, support, and a quiet compassion that meant more than they ever knew.

And when I introduced a memorial tennis tournament in memory of Terry for the lake, Sid did something I will never forget. He offered a beautiful silver bowl from his own family – an heirloom that held its own history and meaning. He had it mounted and engraved so it could become the annual trophy for the tournament. The generosity behind that gesture took my breath away. It wasn’t just a donation – it was a deeply thoughtful gift, offered from the heart, meant to honour Terry and bring our community together.

That is who Sid was. Kind, generous, and always thinking of others. His legacy lives in that trophy and in the countless quiet ways he made life better for the people around him.

I will never forget him. Sid, and Nancy, will always hold a place in my heart.

Sid was fascinating to talk with as he loved to share his excitement for his and Nancy's research into all things Edgar Cayce. He visited our Northglenn Study Group 1 in CO with the Aura Scope so we could experience it. That was SO memorable (unfortunately we couldn't find any pictures). He explored and talked at a Denver program about different apparatus readings by Cayce, and in Montana his and Nancy's program was sharing their story and findings as they interviewed people connected with the readings. Then at the Beach it was fun to hear background connections made surrounding the movie 'Wizard of Oz' as we walked along Atlantic Avenue toward the A.R.E. HQs at Congress one of the years they were there to interview reading recipients on stage, which was SO memorable. Seeing Sid's eyes light up dancing with Nancy later was very heartwarming and a great way to remember him.
