Sebastian's obituary

Sebastian Campos, 27, of Sandy, Utah passed away on October 31st, 2025 in Tooele, Utah.

Sebastian was born on October 15, 1998 in Mineola, New York to Victor and Virginia Campos. From the time he was a child Sebastian was known for his boundless energy, beaming smile and his genuine warmth. He grew up in Asharoken, New York, where he spent most of his childhood fishing on the rocky beaches and running around the forests of Asharoken & Eatons Neck. He attended Norwood Elementary, Northport Middle School and Northport High School.

A passionate backcountry skier, Sebastian found his deepest sense of purpose while chasing powder in the mountains with his friends. Sebastian moved out west at the age of 21 to be closer to the bigger mountains and open spaces of the American West. Sebastian traveled extensively throughout the various ranges of North America to climb and ski as many of the most prominent and aesthetic peaks as he could. Some of his favorite ranges to visit were the Tetons in Wyoming, the Sierra Nevada in California and the Selkirks in British Columbia.

Nowhere felt more like home to Sebastian than the Wasatch Mountains in Utah though - he loved the rugged beauty of the craggy peaks, the easy access from his home in Sandy, and the ample amounts of cold, dry snow that would blanket the range in winter. Sebastian moved through the Wasatch with a swagger and an energy that was contagious and never left him lacking for partners who wanted to feel that energy radiating off of him. He was known for effusively declaring ‘that was the best run of my life!’ at the bottom of a ski line, something he would say frequently, sometimes several times in a given outing. Some of his favorite ski descents in the Wasatch were the NW couloir & E face of Twin Peaks, Bonkers, Tanners Gulch, High Pockets and the South Face of Mt Superior.

Sebastian also took pride in his work as a bartender, and believed that his job consisted of not only serving customers drinks but also creating a warm and inviting atmosphere where they felt at home. He frequently had customers who would stay for hours, sometimes frustratingly close to his shift end, to talk to him. When Sebastian spoke to you it felt like he was truly listening to, and cared about, you and what you had to say. He had an earnestness to him that people were drawn to.

Sebastian cared deeply about his friends and family, and he frequently pushed them to do things that were out of their comfort zones. He strongly believed that we should always strive to be the best versions of ourselves, and Sebastian would generously sacrifice his free time - and oftentimes sleep - if he thought he could help those he loved achieve their goals. His companionship, energy, and belief in you were usually enough to help you accomplish things that would otherwise be out of reach. He was the type of person who could make an impact in someone’s life in a short amount of time, sometimes in as little as the span of an hour or two. Sebastian also felt strongly about the importance of family and would make a point of visiting his family in Oregon and New York after moving to Utah.

Sebastian will be remembered for his warm smile, passionate energy, and the joy he brought to everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his parents, Victor and Virginia; his brother Nickolas; his brother Xavier, sister-in-law Jessica, and niece Avery; his grandmother Delia; his uncle Danny; and his uncle Walter. A celebration of his life will be held on November 15th at 2pm at 3 Kew Court in Northport, NY.
