Scott Richard Visker of Lake Wales passed away from cancer at age 65 on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at his residence.

He was born December 12, 1956 in Waterloo, Iowa and adopted at birth by his adoring parents, the late Richard and Betty Visker (Pflugradt). He grew up in New Hampton, Iowa and after graduation served in the US Navy. After serving he returned to northeast Iowa, where he married Shanda Hagen in 1981 and graduated from the Business Institute of Technology in Cedar Falls. They moved to Lakeland, Florida in 1984 where he started a career in Information Technology with Publix Super Markets. After 26 years in system engineering and IT management, Scott retired to Lake Wales, Florida in 2010.

Scott was well-known as an avid hobbyist. He was an integral part of the Lakeland Bassmasters organization and served for many years on its board, fished (and won!) tournaments for decades, and enjoyed countless hours on the lakes with his buddies. In his retirement, he also discovered his love for soft-tipped darts – he would go on to run a weekly dart tournament with his beloved Camp Mack community at their local bar and compete at the state level. Scott and his family played as a team in a bowling league for several years, he loved to play Texas Hold ‘Em poker online, he helped form and run a fantasy football league for 20 years, and somehow even made room to play golf and hunt (he was an excellent marksman to boot!).

Scott is survived by his wife of 41 years, Shanda Visker (Hagen); daughter, Jaime Visker Gibbons and husband Tristan of Bartow, Florida; son, Jesse Marzen and wife Kari of Waverly, Iowa; sister, Virginia Visker of Iowa City, Iowa; brothers, Kevin Hitsman of Perry, Iowa, and Mel Hitsman and wife Rachel of Ogden, Iowa; and four grandchildren – Tyler, Noah, Isaiah, and Liliana Marzen.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday January 7, 2023 from 3-7pm at Camp Mack in Lake Wales, FL. Another celebration of life will be held on Saturday June 10, 2023 at Heartland Days in New Hampton, IA.
