If you know Sam, you know he is a friend, a unifier, and a creator. Sam, as a young person, and his family, affected my life greatly in a positive way. While I don’t have a specific story to tell, I shared some memorable, wonderful times with Sam and his brothers. Sam helped bring others together with his fun-loving warmth. He had a lively presence. This is unifying.

He is a friend in the true sense of the word., certainly. God gave Sam a lot. This is where the creativity comes in. I read about Sam’s musical talent and sharing it with others. With it, he developed family and community.

While we have some questions that won’t be answered until we are out of this bubble of life on Earth, I know that Sam’s life will continue to be revealed and honored by those who best knew him. To Sam’s family and close friends, I cry and mourn with you. I know he was special, and it isn’t just a thing to say. May God bless you and keep you.

Sam would visit us just about every weekend after Matt and I got married. We would go to Blockbuster and rent movies. During one of his many visits, Sam and Matt rented one of the Muppet movies to watch with Wes. Sam imitated EVERY SINGLE  CHARACTER in the movie, but his best and most memorable impression was the King Prawn muppet. I can't recall the exact muppet movie (there are several) but Matt and I will always think of Sam when we see that silly prawn. I can picture him now saying in his best King Prawn voice..."Smoking is bad for you okayyy?"

Uncle Sam with Audrey & Wesley on NYE 2003. Sam made the hat on his head because the ones we had wouldn't fit his giant head! His hat says "Hoppy New Jears" and must be pronounced with Sam's goofy accent. — with Audrey Jackson and Wesley Jackson
