Ronald's obituary
Ronald L. Ashton, Jr.
September 11, 1956 – February 22, 2026
Ronald Ashton, Jr., age 69, affectionately known to his friends and family as “Pete,” passed away peacefully in his home in North Port, Florida, on Sunday, February 22, 2026. Born on September 11, 1956, Pete was raised in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, before moving to Florida in the nineties with his wife, Mary Anne, and daughter, Heather.
Pete was known for his active spirit and love of the outdoors. From the diving boards and softball fields of his youth to the motorcycle rides and golf courses of his adulthood, Pete lived life at full speed. Following his graduation in 1974 from Laurel Highlands High School, he served his country briefly as a member of the United States Army and then worked for Fox Grocery until his retirement.
While Pete remained a Uniontown boy at heart - faithfully watching the Steelers and following NASCAR racing - he truly embraced the Florida lifestyle in his later years. Most days, you could find Pete soaking up the sun at the Nokomis Jetty, a place that became his sanctuary and where he spent many of his happiest days.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Anne Ashton, and his sister, Rhonda Ashton. He was the proud "Poppy" to two grandsons, Braylon Ashton Martin and Brody Ashton Martin. He is also survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him dearly. Pete was preceded in death by his daughter, Heather Ashton, as well as his parents, Ronald and Susan Ashton.
Remembered for his kindness and the peace he found in the Florida sun, Pete’s memory will be cherished by those who knew him in both Florida and Pennsylvania.
Cremation will take place in Florida. A private Celebration of Life to honor his memory will be held in Uniontown, Pennsylvania in July 2026; further details will be shared closer to the date.
The family appreciates your continued love and support during this time. For those wishing to share a card or note of sympathy, condolences may be sent to the Ashton Family at 4546 Coker Road, North Port, Florida 34286.
