Bob was a treasure.  A wonderful, interesting, interested, gentle man who made everyone in the room feel special and valued.  What a honor and privilege to number both Bob and Sarah as close friends.  He will always hold a special plan in my heart.
What a fantastic life Bob led! I feel fortunate to have spent time with him and Sara in Lakwside and Chicago.

Bob was an active participant in a men's discussion  group that met in Lakeside monthly to cover assigned topics. On month each member was asked to imagine they could bring together three people from differing times and places to exchange thoughts over a dinner on a subject of the member's choosing.

Some of us chose to bring back family members to fill in historic gaps. Some chose a topic such as politics, religion, leadership;  then selected people famous in those fields. Bob's table however was different, voted the best, because he wanted to be with grandchildren and/or  great grandchildren in the year 2100 to find out what had happened to family, to country, to the world.

Bob was a thoughtful, fun loving gentleman. We miss him.

Shared a heart Red heart

Bob was a lifelong learner who could converse on any topic. In addition to his vast knowledge and experience, he had an intense interest in other people. We shared stories by a fireplace at the home of John and Lynn in Santa Fe.
What a wonderful life Bob lived! David and I feel enormously blessed to have known him just a little in Lakeside. We  know his loss will be felt deeply by all who knew him and especially Sarah and his children. The obituary is terrific and this page is lovely. Thank you for sharing. We miss knowing he walks this earth.
Bob was a dear friend. We shared a love of music, opera in particular, a love for and fascination with the law and of course all things Chicago. His death leaves a big hole in me.  I already miss him very much.
I had the pleasure of knowing Bob for the past 9 years and found him to be one of the kindest, intelligent, and interesting person I have ever had the opportunity to meet
