Our hearts break with and for you , Eileen. We will miss (Uncle) Rick’s smile, laughter and kindness. I will always remember the first time he held Isabelle as a baby and will miss how he cared so deeply about her over the years. I loved how he would get so excited and proud of her when talking with her about how well she was doing in school or a game if he watched the live streaming. He was one of her biggest cheerleaders and that I will be forever grateful for. We will treasure the memories we were lucky to share with him. We love you.
I will always remember Rick's willingness to help everyone.  I worked with Rick at Workday and he was one of those people who was always willing to take the time to explain technical topics in a way that everyone could understand.  He was thorough and practical and had a great sense of humor.  I missed him each time we had to tackle a tough problem - he left a big hole.

I was one of those who interviewed Rick when he applied to PeopleSoft and of course recommended we hire him - glad I did! Super nice guy, calm, intelligent, I'm lucky to have known him. Condolences to all of his family.

Eileen,

We are so sorry for your loss. Rick was the perfect life partner for you. I am happy for the 20 years you had together. Rick will be missed by everyone he touched💙💙

Love Helen and Jim

As Eileen's oldest friend (I think I am anyway!), I have always appreciated Rick's sterling qualities, his devotion to Eileen, his tremendous steadiness and quiet kindness, his undeniable intelligence.  When I was going through a difficult divorce, Eileen would report to me Rick's comments behind the scenes about how I was being treated by my soon to be ex-.  This unlooked for loyalty reflected the quiet supportive qualities I'd always seen in him.  Underneath his sanguine exterior, he was clearly indignant on my behalf and strongly empathetic to what I was going through.  Protective even.  This was incredibly warming to me as I went through this very difficult experience.  Rick came to feel like family to me in the way that Eileen always has been.  I don't have any brothers and sisters and this has been very meaningful.  As I age, I am very much aware that the most valuable friends are often those who support quietly and consistently without much fanfare or notice.  Rick was just such a one.  He will forever remain in my heart and prayers as such.
Somehow whenever I spoke with Rick he made me feel special.  He was attentive; a good listener; such a thoughtful neighbor who supported my friendship with Eileen beautifully.

I’m so sorry to hear about Rick.  He was always a breath of fresh air - so funny and upbeat with a keen sense of humor. And such a smarty pants! We knew when Rick was on the problem it would be solved.  And he really loved his wife Eileen.  He spoke so highly of her and so tenderly.  Personally, I admire Rick for his brain donation as MSA is something my family is acquainted with.  That bequest speaks to the kind of man Rick was.

You are sorely missed, Rick!  Terribly sorry for your loss, Eileen!
My deepest condolences to Rick's family and friends. Words seem so inadequate at times like this, but I'll do my best. I knew Rick back in college, and we roomed together one year as well. He was a dedicated, funny, and most of all good person who I'm happy to have known. We were both engineering students, and he helped me settle into a pattern of working hard but leaving room for breaks (usually foosball). His pleasant demeanor is the thing above all else that I remember about him. Having experienced some significant losses myself recently, all I can say to his family is that while the pain will never go away, you can learn to manage and accommodate it in a way that lets you continue living while honoring his memory. I wish you all the best.
What a beautiful soul Rick was. It was a privilege to know him. I can't think of him without seeing him making a little joke about whatever you were talking about, with just a hint of a smile. Always gentle, getting you to smile with him. And of course, his deep and obvious love for Eileen, extending to her (our) crazy, big family! He was a special person and I love thinking back on the year he and Eileen spent going to Hawaii many times and enjoying each other's company more than ever.

Rick shared his quiet humor with all of us. His generosity and selflessness throughout all of this is truly inspiring.

My sincere condolences to Rick's family.  I remember meeting Rick in my first few months at Workday and came away with a sense of appreciation for his deep knowledge, humility and willingness to teach and help everyone - he was truly one of a kind!  Wishing the family peace during this difficult time.

It is so wonderful to read these messages from so many people who knew and loved Rick, in so many ways and capacities.

What I will remember of Rick is his wit, his playful and clever humor that he never lost.  His kindness.  His willingness to meet  the unacceptable with dignity and humility, with honesty and with laughter.  His diligence, his determination, and his devotion to his wife, his love—Eileen.  And her devotion to him. What a beautiful love to bear witness to.

My love and prayers and deepest sympathy with all who grieve Rick.

Eileen, sending you so much peace and comfort as you mourn the loss of your great love, Rick. He was such an expectionally kind and gentle soul. His love and devotion to you was so inspiring and palpable. I am so sorry. He passed way too soon.
I was so sad to hear this news. Rick and I went to high school together. He was so smart and almost always set the curve on our physics and calculus tests. I have many great memories of those days. My thoughts are with his fsmily during this difficult time.

So sorry to hear the sad news of Rick's passing. I got to know him over a number of Hanlon family gatherings. I always enjoyed talking to him, and I most remember his warmth, kind eyes, great smiles and great shirts. Love and healing hugs to all of you, especially Eileen. ❤️
I was so sorry to hear about Rick's passing. We shared a lot of classes in high school.  He was bright and always helped me out with homework, especially physics. Rick was a great friend and I have wonderful memories of the times we would hang out together.  My prayers are with you, Eileen.
