I have many wonderful memories of my thatha. He was a doctor, in the Indian army, and, best of all, the greatest grandpa. I remember that he loved to read thrillers and we recently talked about my favorite, And Then There Were None. He loved ice cream, and I remember how he’d sit down on the couch and watch CNN, eating some excellent ice cream. He was also a dog lover and would often sit on the couch with our dog, Tum Tums, and sneak him some ice cream. Tum Tums always got excited when he saw thatha and enjoyed sitting on his lap.
Most days of the week, I would talk to him on the phone during my car ride to school, and he would always encourage me with anything I was doing. For example, when I was running for student council and nervous about speaking in front of an audience, he would give me words of encouragement and tips for presenting my speech in front of the whole school. He will forever be someone I remember, and I hope he’s at peace enjoying ice cream and watching CNN. Thatha had an amazing and exciting life and will always inspire me to go into the future with a smile on my face.
Love, Dylan

My grandfather, whom I call thatha, will always hold a special place in my heart, and his memory is filled with cherished moments.
One of our sweetest bonding experiences was with a simple snack, Pringles. When I was younger, he and I loved the salt and vinegar-flavored Pringles, and when he came to visit us, he would find some way to get me a can of Pringles and sing his version of Pringle Bells (like Jingle Bells).
Thatha had a passion for history and a love for the natural world, which we also shared. He introduced me to the wonders of National Geographic and encouraged my fascination with reptiles. We spent hours watching documentaries together, exploring the captivating lives of snakes and lizards. His enthusiasm for learning was infectious, and it has deepened my own appreciation for the world's mysteries.
But what I'll miss most is traveling with him. I'll never forget our visit to Costa Rica the summer after I finished high school. Whether visiting a historical site or a simple stroll, he made every moment an exciting journey.
Thatha's legacy lives on in his love of knowledge, the joy of discovery, and the simple pleasures of a can of Pringles.
Love you always thatha!

I got to know Chandran in 1970 after I got married to his cousin Nagu. He was always a pleasure to be with and talk to,since he was an Encyclopedia of knowledge in many fields. He was a kind and caring person. I experienced his kindness personally when he had the Guest Bathroom completely remodeled for a disabilty that my wife (his cousin) had developed. I always looked forward to my visit to Venice to be with Chandran and Chitra who welcomed me with the kindness and affection.
I will miss Chandran ,his kindness, his erudition and hospitality.
May Chitra,Rangaram and family,Sheila and family be endowed with the strength to endure the unfortunate loss of Chandran.
May his soul rest in peace!
I will always remember you, my friend.

I had been associated with him for about 60 years.
I have not met any person more soft spoken than him. A very lovable person.
It was a shocking news particularly because I had been talking to him over the phone couple of days prior to his passing away and it was a very normal conversation..
It was very unfortunate for me not to have seen him in person for more than 2 years.
I short it is a great personal loss for me.
I pray God for giving strength to his wife and other family members to withstand this great loss
He will always be in my memory.
