Randall's obituary
The family of Randall Ross Kneprath (age 78 of Alexandria, MN) announce his entrance into his Heavenly home Friday, January 31, 2025 from Alomere Hospital in Alexandria, MN after battling many age-related illnesses. Randy was lovingly surrounded by family as he stepped into eternity, embraced by his beloved Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Randy was born in Rockford, Illinois on July 18, 1946 to Byron Laverne & Zelda Lavern (Herbig) Kneprath and four sisters. At a young age he had a love for cars and in his teenage years he worked at Loves Park Auto in Loves Park. He started out as a delivery boy and worked his way up to co-owner. Randy spent his free time drag racing at Rockford Speedway and drinking with co-workers; he lived a fast life. He fell in love and married Bonnie Lee (Runge) Kneprath April 23, 1966 in Rockford, Il. They had 4 children. Feeling adrift after selling his share of the business and not being the husband and father he truly desired to be, Randy received Jesus into his life while praying with his brother-in-law, Pastor Jerry Hagelin. This act of surrender transformed the excesses and battles in his personal life by leading his family on a whole new purposeful path of life and redemption. For a fresh start they returned to Bonnie’s family roots in Alexandria, MN in 1980 where Randy worked various jobs before ending his career at Napa Auto Parts. He and Bonnie welcomed many people into God’s Kingdom and into their home for mentoring and discipleship. They loved their time with couples’ small groups, Promise Keepers, and were part of the beginnings of Lake Community Evangelical Free Church. Randy was a passionate singer in churches and at home and instilled this gift in many of his family line. As a couple they faithfully led each of their children to the Gospel truth by love-filled actions more than words. After the loss of his wife in 2000, Randy devoted his life to his family and studying the Bible. In these later years, he experienced the highlight of his life - “Bible Study With Grandpa”. He spent memorable time with his 10 grandchildren teaching them concepts from the Bible and taking them to DQ for ‘Weenie Wednesday’ treats after. He was ever an encourager to all he met to love and follow Jesus. He has left a powerful legacy of love, laughter, and devotion.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents Zelda and Byron, his wife, Bonnie, and great-grandson, Miles. He is survived by his sons, Marc Dull of Loves Park, Il, Kevin (& Rebecca) Kneprath of St. Cloud, MN, Gregory (& Robbi) Kneprath of Alexandria, MN, and Stephan (& Jessica) Kneprath of Willmar, MN and his daughter, Stacey (& Gary) Anderson of Farwell, MN; Grandchildren: Hailey (Bryce), Ella, Wesley, Ethan (Keilah), Will (Kathryn), Morgan (Scott), Lee (Michaela), Brennan, Seth, & Audra; and Great-Grandchildren: Lucas, Leo, Rory, Galilee, Reuben, Cohen, & Layton; and sisters: Iris (Jerry) Hagelin, Bonnie Haffner, Rita Jacob, and Darlo Kiely.
A private time of remembrance will be held at a later date.
