Pamela's obituary

Pamela Sue Ponds, 69, reunited with loved ones in heaven on February 11, 2025, after a battle with dementia.

Pam’s smile and sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. She attended Welch Creek Baptist Church faithfully and was a medical transcriptionist at Walterboro Family Practice for decades. Some of her favorite pastimes were sharing laughter and good food (made by someone else) with family and friends, going to church, watching Gamecocks sports, assembling massive jigsaw puzzles, cutting the grass, and fishing. She will be forever remembered with love as a wonderful mother, proud Grammie, loyal friend, faithful Christian, enthusiastic USC fan, and determined armadillo hunter.

Pam was preceded in death by her parents Lyonell and Dorothy Griffin; sister Tina Berry; granddaughter Cacey Beyer; and menace Yorkie Harley. She is survived by her children Matthew Ponds and Ashley Beyer (Randall); grandchildren Riley and Cara Beyer; nephews Curtis Berry (Ashley, Hudson, Miles), Travis Berry (Jennifer, Keeten), and Coby Berry (Taylor, Hadley); brother-in-law David Berry; and brother David Griffin. She also deeply loved her former in-laws Miriam and Joe Ponds, the extended Ponds family, and her Griffin relatives.

Pam's Celebration of Life will be held at Welch Creek Baptist Church in Walterboro, South Carolina, on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 11 a.m. with lunch immediately following the service. This is a celebration, not a funeral, so there is no need for suits, long sleeves, black clothes, or tissues. Join us in honoring her vibrant personality by wearing colorful clothes and bringing your smile, laughter, and fondest memories.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (lbda.org/donate) or the University of South Carolina (donate.sc.edu)
