Mike's obituary

Mike La Duca, 62, of Woodinville, WA,  passed away suddenly on June 10, 2022.

Mike was born on February 14, 1960 to John and Elsie La Duca in Portland, Oregon.  When Mike was a young child, he loved to observe his grandfather in his workshop making furniture and doing other carpentry projects.  At a young age, he loved to take equipment apart and when older he learned how to reassemble it.  He eventually became known as the fix-it man as friends and neighbors brought their cars over for repair.  Mike could figure out how to fix anything that came his way.  At age 18, Mike started working in construction and was in an apprenticeship program, therefore, carrying on his grandfather's legacy. He went on to become a journeyman carpenter for the remainder of his career.

Mike's father was a professional musician and entertainer.  He grew up listening to his father practicing on their grand piano and later worked with his dad in his music store.  Playing the piano and creating his own tunes became one of Mike's favorite pastimes.

Mike had four older brothers and two younger sisters and, therefore, never got by with anything.  In April 1986, Mike met the love of his life, Rosie Edwards.  They married on New Year's Eve in 1987 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  In 1992, they moved to Seattle where Mike worked as a union carpenter.  While in the Seattle area, they purchased a home in Woodinville.  Mike built an elaborate backyard oasis where his creativity and artistry came together.   This was his passion and now his legacy.

Mike and Rosie loved to take road trips and planned to purchase an RV and see the country in retirement. Rosie often told people that they made perfect travel buddies, Mike would drive while Rosie would sleep.  His favorite vacation spot was Hawaii, and they made many trips to Maui.

Mike is predeceased by his father and mother.  He is survived by his wife Rosie,  brothers John, Joe, Bob and Dave and sisters Irene and Sharon.
