Michael and Jan Cordes have been our close friends since they lived in Franklin County, MO around 45 years ago. So as I sift through my many memories of this multi dimensional man the trait that shines through most brightly and consistently is his faith in a God of Love and His commission to "Love one another as I have loved you! "
Michael befriended so many people who needed acceptance and financial support by opening his home to them when they had none,, by providing food when they were hungry, and securing appropriate clothing to interview for a job when they needed one. This was also how he lived his life, loving his wife and family.
When cancer invaded his life, Michael trusted in his loving God to heal him, which He did several times, until little by little by God's grace, Michael's faith enabled him to see beyond this life to a better life, a life free of the the pain he endured, real eternal life, with his Father in heaven. With great faith and no fear, he was able to say "I am ready to go", and God received him into the kingdom.
"Well done though good and faithful servant!"
We love you, Michael.

Dear Jan and Kids, i was so sorry to hear of Micheal’s passing on the 8th. Being a good Republican i hope he got to mail on his last ballet Looking back we shared so many years . We moved into Signal Hill neighborhood on Nov 79 and you came the following Spring . We watched our kids grow up ,go to college and start their own lived as good caring people. They got married and brought us the joyof grandkids. As we got older and you lost Tony and I lost Stuart. I can’t tell you how much I appreciated Michael’s help from the yard , always knowing how to fix things and watching Matisse as i had to leave . I know that was not his favorite task but he was very kind and faithful to do it. Also when i was back from Washington without my car. He was wonderful to get me where i needed to be to the store, doctors , or getting bird seed ., We did drive each other crazy but i always told he he was the big brother I needed and i was glad he lived next door. As it turned out we both left the neighborhood this year with me in June and now you all. Guess Linda Haviland is the last man standing. I am truly thankful for all the help i received over the years. God Bless you all i know Micheal will always be watching over. I always teased him about being named for an angel. Take care and May the Angels watch over you all. With fondest memories of you all, Rebecca Mauch

Driving to Branson, MO, following him in the car behind, and watching him switch lanes well over 100 times. When I asked him what he was doing, he said counting the dead armadillos.
