It was devastating to hear about the passing of Graeme. We served together from around 1981-1984. He was so respected by everyone who knew him. A true soldiers soldier. We nearly met up after many years when Graeme walked the Camino trail in northern Spain as I was walking east to the Mediterranean but times just weren’t compatible. We also talked more recently about a reunion at the annual Rugby match, Army v RAF and how he keeps in touch with our antics at these gatherings.
Graeme, you were a true gentleman and it’s been my privilege to have known you.
I have known Graeme since he was a young soldier in Aldershot in 1978. He was a good friend of my husband Gordon ( who also left us far too soon). I am so pleased that we all kept in touch and gathered together regularly, most recently in December. It was such a pleasure to have Graeme in my life and I treasure all the memories. My love to Jenene, Ryan and Megan, Brendan and Nora xxx
I am deeply sorry for your loss. Graham was an excellent leader, friend and teacher. He left the Army at the same time I did and I remember having a conversation with him that he was so looking forward to living his life with Jenene and his new life in America. Following their families life’s he had the best life - it’s so sad that he has gone so soon. My sincerest condolences to you all. I’m a better man for knowing Mr G Armstrong.
This man when I served with him, was the one person I really looked up to, the advice and encouragement Graeme use to give was second to none, always there if you needed, even when a few of us did an 18 to 30 tour in ibiza on our return from F I. The world has lost one off those rare true gentlemen, a total inspiration to me while serving with him.
I served our country with Graeme in the 80’s, a true gentleman, an exceptional soldier, a true friend who will be remembered until we meet again in the Squadron Bar.
