Lois's obituary
Lois Koonce went home to Jesus on April 29, 2023, at age 81.
Lois was born to Robert and Frances Vanderberg on July 28, 1941, in San Luis Obispo, California. She grew up in San Luis Obispo, California. Lois met her husband Wayne Koonce at Westmont College in Santa Barbara. They married in 1962, and went on to have two children Kevin and Gregory. Later God brought Colleen Simpson into their lives as a daughter.
Lois and Wayne raised their family in Santa Barbara and later moved to Auburn, California. While in Auburn, they lovingly invested in their family, including grandchildren Nicole, Tanner, Breya, Tyler, Carlin, Gunnar, Keaton, and Jase, and great grandchildren Taylor, Jordyn, KJ, Mollie and Jason (and another on the way). Lois and Wayne were also very involved with Cornerstone Community Church.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, Lois loved Jesus above all. Throughout her life she ran after Jesus wanting more and more of Him. She led Bible studies and recovery groups, mentored numerous women, was a voice of wisdom in her church and family, and continued to learn all she could about her Creator until her very last moments. She held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. Lois was full of joy and peace before her passing, because of the confidence she had in her faith. She knew that soon she would meet her Savior and be reunited with those she had lost during her time here. Her family and friends mourn her absence, but we have joy in the fact that she is now in the full presence of God's glory.
"But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and He will stand upon the earth at last. I will see Him for myself. Yes, I will see Him with my own eyes. I am overwhelmed at the thought!" Job 19:25-27
