Larry's obituary

Larry Post, a successful businessman and knowledgeable outdoorsman crossed the bar for the last time on August 15th of this year at 69 years old after an 18 month battle with liver cancer.

Born in Centralia, he attended Auburn High School where he met his sweetheart, J'Anna Serquinia.  After graduating in 1970 they were married and moved to Cheney WA to attend Eastern Washington State College.  Larry graduated with a BA in Education.  Later he completed his Masters in Guidance and Counseling through Whitworth College and a certificate in Rehabilitation Management from Seattle University.

in 1983 Larry and J'Anna worked together to open Olympic Physical Therapy.  Larry's leadership of the business side guided the company to become one of the largest and most successful practices in the Puget Sound.   His passion for physical therapy came thru in his commitment to the Washington State Physical Therapy Association where he volunteered his time as the payor liaison working tirelessly to ensure fair compensation from the insurance companies.  He gave freely of his time to educate other Physical Therapists about insurance and business management.   After 32 years, Olympic Physical Therapy was sold and J'Anna and Larry retired.

Larry was passionate about anything boating and fishing.  He was happiest when on the water and sharing his love of fishing with his family and friends.   He and J'Anna lived on a Selene at Elliott Bay Marina for many years.  He was a member of the Queen City Yacht Club, the Seattle Yacht Club and was very active and served as the Commodore for the Grady White Club.   His boating took him to Alaska on a 22' Grady White, multiple times to the West Side of Vancouver Island on a 27' & 33' Grady White and around Vancouver Island on a 53' Selene and 33' Grady White.  He loved Shaw Island, in the San Juan Islands, where he spent many summers at the family cabin.   He made sure that his daughter and grandchildren found the joy that he found on this special property.

Larry loved adventure.  His travels took him to the Philippines, China, Norway, skiing & biking in Japan, going on safari in Africa and hiking to Machu Picchu in Peru.   Even though he enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Japan with his grandchildren, one of his favorite adventures was right here in the Pacific Northwest where he organized and led a caravan of Grady White boats around Vancouver Island, a trip they called "Round the Rock" which was highlighted in an article in the Boating Magazine September 2016.  He loved to bike, hike and spent winters skiing in Utah.

Larry's greatest love was for his family, something he often mentioned.  He was unendingly proud of Joni, his only child, and her husband Eric Simon.   His pride and joy were his grandchildren, Dylan, Jackson, and Grace Simon.   He would talk about each grandchild's accomplishments and always found ways to support them in everything they wanted to try.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, J'Anna Post, daughter and son-in-law Joni and Eric Simon and his grandchildren Dylan, Jackson and Grace.
