Mountain Biking (in the rain) — with Keven Mac Gowan
It was with great shock and sadness to hear about the passing of my friend Keven whom I knew since he came to Aerospace (circa 1999).  I had since been retired when this happened and wanted to offer my deepest sympathies to all of his family, especially his sons for which he was so much devoted.  Only the Lord knows what was troubling his soul and we have to learn to assimilate and accept what happened since we could not know his heart.  I always enjoyed working with and interacting with him at work —he certainly was dedicated to his engineering craft and had a wry sense of humor about all topics.  I will miss his smiling face and laugh and pray that he has now found the peace he could not find here...

Setting up the tailgate with my dad and good friend lucho he loved to go to the games
Keven was a very special person, a good friend, an adventurer, super fun to be around, and a great engineer. Julie and I will miss him greatly. Working together at TRW designing MMICs and microwave units for space was a great experience. For a period, we had three "Kevens" in the same lab. Keven was a very rare engineer who could do it all ... design, build and test. Besides being a great engineer, he loved adventure, mountain biking and the outdoors. We once road our bikes from South Redondo to Encinitas to his mom's house taking a route around PV through Wilmington, past San Onofre, through Camp Pendleton. It took us twelve hours and I could barely walk by the time we reached our destination. Keven was fine. Even though it was hell on my body, riding with Keven made it fun. While we are super sad at his loss, we feel lucky to have known him, been friends, and spent countless fun hours with him.
In response to "What did you learn from Keven?"
Keven MacGowan was one of the funniest men and one of the best dads on the planet. I am still in shock he is no longer with us. I pray his soul is at rest with Jesus Christ, the King of kings and Lord of lords. Keven's sense of humor and laugh lit up the room. He hosted so many family get-togethers for both parents and their kids. I was one of the kids. He'd barbecue all of us food in the backyard. His heart for people was so pure, so deep, and so, so loving. My heart goes out to his sons, who I knew very, very well as a kid. I played with them all the time on weekends. You will be deeply missed, Keven. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

Dear Ryan and Brett,

I met your Dad back in the 90’s, post college.  Keven has always been a very kind and wise man, with high intellect. Paul and I have great memories of Keven as we all had become close and shared many memories together.  Paul and Keven were coworkers at TRW, we were once neighbors, and we attended each others weddings. Before we lost touch, I got to see Keven as a father and I witnessed first hand how great  he was with you boys and how much he loved you both. It was great to reconnect with Keven a couple of years back through Facebook. I was happy to catch up with him.

We love you, Keven.
