Juliet's obituary

Juliet Alicia Marie Collins Luard, affectionately known as "Lisa," graced the world with her presence on June 2, 1951, in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Raised in Hanover, she defied a teacher's doubtful prediction about her prowess in mathematics by ultimately owning a finance company, testament to her indomitable spirit and dedication to service.

Lisa, a spirited soul from a young age, adored life's finer pleasures, like roses and delicate frills, embodying the grace and enthusiasm of a true Jamaican debutante. Her path was marked by distinction; an ardent advocate for the People's National Party, Lisa embraced a multifaceted career spanning politics, insurance, and real estate with unwavering zeal and vibrancy.

Renowned for her elegance, whether captivating audiences on runways in her twenties or exploring nature in her forties, Lisa's journey was one of constant evolution, deeply rooted in spirituality. This foundation guided her in nurturing her family as a devoted mother, leading by example with both generosity and resilience.

Lisa's legacy extends beyond her personal achievements to her profound impact on her community. Known for her culinary excellence and business acumen, she was a beacon of hope and strength for many, championing the underdog and tirelessly working to make a difference. Friend & Peer circles that would make you ask for further reference; it was always amazing “how much Lisa knew” and “who Lisa knew”.

Embracing a life of faith and service to others, Juliet Alicia Luard concluded her earthly journey on April 27, 2024. After bravely facing Cancer, Parkinson's, and the aftermath of a brain hemorrhage, she transitioned peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by love. Her departure leaves a void in this world, now enriched by her presence in Heaven.

A Celebration of Life will be held in North Carolina in June, with a Burial Ceremony to follow in Jamaica this summer. For further details, please reach out to the family. In lieu of flowers and notes, financial contributions can be directed to the gifts section found on this website, honoring Lisa's memory and spirit.

Preceded in death by her parents, little brother, spouse, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. Juliet is survived by her legacies including: Nicholas Luard (Son), Tiffany Luard (Daughter),  her beloved Ava (Granddaughter), Kingston (Grandson), Leon (Grandson), A’Kaya (Granddaughter), Maurice (Grandson), & Aliviya (Granddaughter). Her nieces, nephews, and extended family. She will be greatly missed by her finance teams, her bible study sisterhood, her dear nurse: Patricia, her family, friends, and all who admired her. Therefore we will complete her final instruction: & celebrate!

The family thanks those who have battled this long journey beside us. To anyone whom is just becoming aware: we celebrate that Lisa fought & survived; and is now free.
