Joseph (Joe)'s obituary
Joseph “Joe” Pacheco
January 16, 1948 – August 22, 2025
Joe Pacheco lived a life rich in love, laughter, and adventure. Born in Leadville, Colorado, on January 16, 1948, to Antonio "Tony" and Eppie Pacheco, he passed away at his home in Colorado Springs on August 22, 2025, at the age of 77.
After graduating high school, Joe entered into the U.S. Army, serving in California—where his daughter Tina was born—and Italy. Later, while serving in the National Guard, he spent time in Germany. Following his honorable discharge, he pursued training as an electrician at Northwest Kansas Vocational Technical School.
On June 28, 1975, Joe married Sharon Perkins in Bird City, Kansas. Together, they built a life filled with love and resilience while living in Kansas, Nevada, and Colorado. Joe worked at Climax Molybdenum Mine and Newmont Gold Mine and also built and ran his own business. His most recent employment was with Hewlett Packard, under Johnson Controls and SIS, until a stroke on December 31, 2023, ended his working years.
Joe and Sharon recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Joe and Sharon enjoyed traveling, dancing and trips to Cripple Creek. Joe was a devoted husband, proud father, caring brother, and a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather. He was also a loyal friend who touched many lives. Family was the center of his world, and he found joy in family gatherings.
Joe was an avid outdoorsman and lifelong sports enthusiast. He played basketball in high school and later found joy in working around their home, teeing off on the golf course, casting lines into a quiet lake or rolling river, trekking through the woods with his bow on hunting trips, and roasting marshmallows around a campfire. His life was filled with stories and adventures, and he inspired those around him to appreciate the beauty of nature and the value of hard work. His laughter, wisdom, and strength will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew him.
Rather than mourning his passing, Joe would want his family and friends to honor his memory by spending time outdoors and cherishing those closest to them. His spirit lives on in every sunrise over the Rockies, each round of golf, and every campfire under the stars—where laughter echoes and memories linger.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jerry. May they rest in peace.
He is survived by his wife Sharon; his son Brian (Susan) and daughter Tina (Bill); his grandchildren Chris (Natalie), Austin (Alexandra), Haili (Ulisses), Shandonae, Justin, Taylre (Josh), BriAnne (Garrett), and Amber (Dallas); and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Frank (Krystyna), John (Ann), Tony, Danny (Margaret), and sister Elaine; his sister-in-law Valli; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
