Jonathan's obituary

Jonathan Michael Godown, 44, of Oviedo, Florida, passed away on October 16, 2024 from an inoperable brain tumor. Born on January 21, 1980, Jon was known for his kind and loyal nature, beautiful blue eyes, and infectious smile that could light up any room. He was a beloved figure in his community, cherished for his easy laughter and deep connections with friends and family.

Jon was a passionate sports enthusiast. He played baseball, basketball, and football at Buchholz High School in Gainesville, Florida (graduated 1998). He remained an avid fan, especially of the Florida Gators, Iowa Hawkeyes, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Atlanta Braves. His love for sports was matched by the deep bonds he shared with his family, particularly his special connection with his daughter, Alyssa. Jon also enjoyed spending time at the beach and home with his pets (dog, Belle and cat, Spookley).

After high school, Jon moved to Orlando and attended the University of Central Florida. He graduated with a degree in History in 2004. Jon began his career at T.J.MAXX, transitioning later to American Products, Inc. (API), and then spent 10 years with United Parcel Service of America, Inc. (UPS), where he was respected and valued by his colleagues.

Jon is survived by his wife, Kim Santiago; daughter, Alyssa Santiago; mother and stepfather, Ileana and Fred Koerner; sister, Holly Cowx; brother-in-law, Andy Cowx; nephew, William Cowx; niece, Libby Cowx; mother-in-law, Sandra Santiago; brothers-in-law, Brandon Santiago and Ronnie Santiago; father-in-law, Ron Santiago; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Godown.

The family will hold a private celebration of life in November. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society (https://donate.cancer.org) or through a GoFundMe (https://gofund.me/399c29f9) established for Jon's family. We also invite you to share your favorite memories and photos of Jon through Kudoboard (https://www.kudoboard.com/boa…).

Jon's memory and legacy will live on through the many lives he touched with his warmth and generosity.
