John was the leader of leaders when I got to know him at the Lung. I knew him as a man of great encouragement to others (“Marcia, say to yourself “I am a ballerina!!”” he told me as I nervously approached a snow bridge on shaky skis). Oh my gosh what a laugh he had! Big, booming and generous! He was a force of good will and good cheer. I knew him before he had kids and oh how he wanted them. So I got to see how very happy he was to have two beautiful children with Judi. I have not seen him in years — last time was at Widgi— but I will always always remember him. My deepest condolences to family and friends.
