You Always
You always have a smile for me,
You always have a home, a place to lay my head.
You always protected me.
You always have love for me.
You always have an opinion.
You always said “what’s up hooker”
You always took care of everybody
You always had a good time.
You always were a good time.
You will always be in my heart
Always saying “ Love you Baby”
You will always be my family.
We will always remember
Richard and you together now and then.
Lauren and Justice live in Richard’s and your memory always.
You always CJ.

On a layover from Hawaii to the East Coast for holiday was the first time I met CJ. I was with Jill and her mom when CJ returned from getting “kicked out” of the mall for having a coffee can on his head with an electric car antenna inside that deployed and when fully extended had mistletoe dangling from it in which he was approaching girls and asking for kisses. Pure Genius!! I loved it and him immediately!! This ought to have been his first patent much to the chagrin of Santa Monica PD and Jackie.
Several years later, I found myself at the fire pit up at the ranch. Everyone is drinking and eating and having fun and out of nowhere CJ yells at Jazzy to go wash the dishes. “What the heck” I’m thinking to myself. Everyone is hanging out, where did that come. CJ knew how to have fun, but he never forgot his duties as a dad to teach discipline and responsibility which landed Jasmine at UCSB studying Engineering, graduating and gainfully employed at Chevron. Guess, Jazzy knew when to leave the party to go home and study. Much respect to CJ for growing this little girl into such an amazing woman.
Several decades later, my path crosses again with CJ and his son Justice. CJ is telling me how he rode his horse to school to pick up Justice. Whaaat?!? Oh yeah, CJ is teaching his son how to be an individual, to stay connected to the earth, how to connect with animals, and therefore people. Yes, CJ is the forever fun guy and more than that he is the forever caring, nurturing man who took care of many and was a dad to more children than any of us know. Much love, gratitude and appreciation.
