John's obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Neate, who died peacefully on March 26, 2026, at the age of 91.
John lived a full and engaged life, defined by his deep commitment to family, his work, and the many relationships he built along the way. He was known for his strength, his reliability, and his unmistakable sense of humour, often delivered through a well-timed story or joke that brought people together.
He took great pride in the people around him and the communities he was part of, always showing up in a way that made others feel included, supported, and valued. Whether through his professional life or his many personal connections, John believed that relationships mattered, and he invested in them fully.
John is lovingly remembered by his wife, Nancy Ann; his son, Paul, and daughter-in-law, Judith; his granddaughter, Erin, and her husband, Greg; and his great-grandchildren, Isolde, Eamon, and Alban Neate-Stone. He is also survived by his sister, Janet Louise Laidman.
He will be deeply missed by his extended family, friends, and all who had the opportunity to know him.
The family would like to thank those who have shared their kind messages and memories. If John brought a smile to your face at any point, through a story, a shared experience, or simply his presence, we encourage you to hold onto that moment.
A private family service has taken place.
