Background
Northeast Alternative Sports Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit founded by John Friends to expand access to snowboarding and freeskiing in Southern New England. Originally established in 2003 to support RideMass, now the USASA Southern New England Series, the organization continues as a legacy-driven fund that will help sustain the series’ nonprofit operations while providing scholarships and grants to athletes working toward Nationals. With the continued leadership of Caleb Friends and Marc Lombard, Northeast Alternative Sports will carry forward John’s commitment to access, community, and opportunity in the sport.
