John's obituary
John Nelson Cossette, age 73, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, December 5, 2021 surrounded by the love of his family at his home in Klamath Falls, OR. He slipped away peacefully after a gradual removing of his focus from this world, without ever realizing he had dementia.
He was born in Fargo, ND November 16, 1948, to Carol and Marjorie (Zenk) Cossette. He spent most of his early years in Devils Lake, ND, until he enlisted in the Marine Corps. He served proudly in the Power Section of the Communications Company, Engineering Battalion, 1st Marine Division in Vietnam. After he was honorably discharged and returned to the States, he married the love of his life, Karla, on July 14, 1972. He became a Journeyman Electrician and was the Foreman for Edling Electric in Bismarck, ND, supervising a large electrical crew at the Amoco Oil Refinery. In his spare time he enjoyed bow and rifle hunting, fishing, bowling, working on vehicles, and spending time with his young family.
In 1990 he moved his family to Klamath Falls, OR after persistent coaxing from his sister-in-law, Yvonne, who got him an interview at Merle West Medical Center (now Sky Lakes Medical Center). He accepted a position in the Engineering Department where he worked for the next 28 years, eventually becoming Engineering Supervisor. He loved his career and took great pride in keeping hospital operations running smoothly with his team of engineers until his retirement in 2018. He was also active in the church for many years and loved being able to assist with any needed electrical work.
He is survived by his wife Karla, five children and their spouses, Jason and Adele (Watson) Cossette, Adrian and Deborah (Burkett) Cossette, Brian and Jessica (Cossette) Stout, Ryan and Kassandra “Kassie” (Johnson) Cossette, and Marjorie “Mars” Cossette; grandchildren Coltyn, Konner, Madalyn, Lucy, Samuel, John, Abigail, Timothy, and Peter; as well as by his siblings and their spouses Tom and Carolyn (Cossette) Hesford, Barry and Karen Cossette, Jim Cossette, and Tom and Amy (Cossette) Brozik and brother-in-law Keith Strand; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert Cossette, sister Nancy (Cossette) Strand, sister-in-law Yvonne (Kenner) Bonfield, nephew Jonathan Bonfield, twin sons, son Matthew, and beloved dog Scooby
