Here we are Thanksgiving Day 2024, at my Mom and Dads house in Norwalk Ca. JoAnn used to live Nextdoor, we were reminiscing about JoAnne, and stumbled across her memorial. Our sadness, turned to joy knowing that JoAnne had a relationship with our Savior Jesus. Our deepest condolences to her girls, family and friends. Joanne’s zeal for life and free spirit was something I’ll always carry from her memory. It is such a joy to find out that she had children of her own as well as grandchildren. Way to go JoAnne. May your legacy live on.

Joanne Leone was the kindest and most loving person I have ever met. She was one of the most influential people in my childhood. I spent most of my early childhood with Bianca, Crystal, and Joanne. I always felt so loved by her (as if I was a third daughter). Even though more than 30 years have passed, I still cherish every sleepover, dance class, birthday party, summer camp, trip to the cosmetology school, vacation, station wagon/van ride, and holiday I got to spend with the Leone family. I am so thankful for the love she poured into me, and I am so glad Bianca and Crystal were so willing to share their mom with me. I am a better mother, and a more loving person because I knew Joanne.

Joanne saved my life when she was 11 and I was 12. I was drowning in Strong Vincent swimming pool during the summer. We went every day. I got a cramp and the instructor was busy with a boyfriend. Joanne spotted me and dove in like a swan and pulled me to safety. I have been forever grateful and all my children are definitely grateful to her. I have lived her always. R.I.P. beautiful woman.

Crystal/Bianca,
I remember sitting on Joanne's patio when she was telling us about DCFS adoption staff failing to get back to her for years! Joanne was so mad because she wanted Crystal and Bianca immediately! Joanne was so overjoyed when the girls were finally with her. Joanne was a joy to be with. I remember the softball games at Upland High School where I would climb over the chain link fence to get to everyone watching. Joanne did everything she could for the girls! Terry and I have prayers of support and comfort for Bianca, Crystal and the family/friends. Be safe and we are looking forward to the time when we can get together and celebrate Joanne's life.

I grew up with JoAnne, elementary, jr high, to high school in Erie. A very sweet person, Rest In Peace.

I am so sorry for the loss of Joanne. We went to SVHS together and only lived a block away from each other. My favorite memory is of Joanne lending me a beautiful blue dress for a Prom I attended in the 10th grade! It was a last minute invite and I had nothing to wear!! She was a special friend! Hugs to her girls.

I knew Joanne when I lived in Erie, PA. We first met in the early 60’s and I remember her as being a very caring, talented and loving person. I would visit her at her home on 8th Street and there were times when she would visit me on Liberty Street (even on very snowy days). In those days we walked and did not have the use of a car. My mom was very fond of her and enjoyed her company. I remember traveling to the east side of town to be with her when she stayed at her sister’s house. Oh - the good ol’ days!

It was about 44 years later that we reconnected when she learned that I also lived in Upland (what an amazing coincidence). We eventually met for dinner and had other get togethers which were incredibly special, fun, and happy reminiscing old times and catching up on our life experiences.

Joanne was very comforting and loving during the passing of my son Michael in 2007. I will never forget her presence and providing much needed spiritual comfort. Joanne leaves an incredibly special place in my heart.

My heart and prayers go out to her family and friends in this time of grieving. She will greatly be missed by all who knew her. RIP my special friend.

I am so very sorry to read this. I spent many hours at her house, she lived across from Strong Vincent. Both her parents work. It was the after school hang out, to SMOKE! My prayers are with you and your family.

Crystal and Bianca ~ my sincere sympathy to you and yours. JoAnne and I, amongst several others, were friends throughout high school and until she moved to California. We all have fond, fun memories of her and were shocked to hear of her passing. JoAnne came to Erie about 10 or 15 years ago and we had some very good times with her. Crystal & Bianca,

I am a neighbor of Jo Anne. I live down the street. I am the person who introduced her to Rock of the Foothills Lutheran Church. I am sooo sorry for your loss. I walk laps up & down our street most days and when I pass her condo I have a big sigh and get a lump in my throat. I miss her.

Mom...not a moment goes by that I’m not aware of your absence. At times it is unbearable and too unbelievable. You truly were a presence that brought comfort, security and warmth. For B and I, so much more. Our tether, center, anchor, ever loving force. To try to describe life without you is impossible. I love you every minute. I am grateful to you every minute. We are young to have lost you. I grieve for us and your grandkids who love you to the moon, who could do no wrong in your eyes. You were ARE just..:what I wold give to have you here

We are truly blessed to have been Joanne’s neighbor and close friend . Her generosity was beyond imagination. She was like a sister who would always lend support and never judge. A beautiful and loving person who will remain in our hearts. She is now in heaven with our lord, maybe singing with the angels.
