My heart is heavy with grief as I write this. Jesse was so special, a treasure in this world. She had a huge heart that felt everything in its fullest. Her kindness and compassion touched so many lives, including people she didnβt know. Whenever we were out on our walks (Tim Hortons breaks) she would pause to give a stranger a compliment or say hello to someone in need. I would witness the smile and warmth rise on their faces. She lived with love and joy and shared this with those around her. Jesse was a fierce advocate for others and grew to become one for herself. I was privileged to be part of Jesseβs journey towards loving herself as fiercely as she loved others. She was a passionate and talented writer. I have and will always admire her creativity. She also had the most incredible memory (a gift and a curse). She remembered all the small things (and moments) that made her feel loved, connected, and special. She held tightly onto these, collecting treasures and memories to revisit again and again.
Jesse and I had a special relationship. Jesse, aka Pooh bear, and I, aka Eeyore became pen pals nearly 10 years ago. We loved to send handwritten letters and cards to each other filled with updates, drawings and stickers. I will cherish them forever. We shared a love for the outdoors, appreciating the beauty in nature. There is not a moment when heavy snow falls that I donβt think of her. She loved to help shoveling (dreaded by most) and of course playing afterwards. She was always ready to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. Letβs not forget, her kindness also had a cheeky nature. She was playful and loved teasing othersβ¦or me at least! I got the name Eeyore because I am clumsy and always misplacing things (or thoughts). Jesse found this hilarious and would tease me if Iβve βfound my tail yetβ (the answer always being no). I am going to miss herβ¦ her love, joy, resilience, and of course our exchanging of letters.
Pooh bear, may you rest in peace and love.
Love always,Β
EeyoreΒ Β
