Died September 10, 2023. Jennifer Ellen Castillo, born September 27, 1962, in Indiana, Pennsylvania, was the eldest child of Frances and Raymond Castillo. She grew up primarily in Scotia, New York, attending primary school in Scotia and a BOCES program in Guilderland Central school. At age 21 she became a resident of Helderberg House in Altamont, New York (which later became a part of the Center for Disability Services of New York), where she resided happily for the remainder of her life, participating fully in programs of the center and visiting with her parents and extended family for vacation and holidays. Christmas and her birthday were her favorite times, and she loved her huge collection of stuffed animals and the color purple.

Jen is survived by her immediate family: her parents, who live in Orleans, Massachusetts, her brother Raymond and his family of Richmond, Virginia, and her sisters Allison Castillo of Brooklyn, New York and Sara Castillo of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She enjoyed an extraordinary closeness with family, always glad to visit but always pleased to return to her home in Altamont and to the other residents and the staff members of her group home. She was thoroughly loved by all of her extended family (and their pets!) and is so sadly missed.
