Janie Gobeli (Gruchalski), 59, of Elburn, Illinois, passed away on November 3, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering love, quiet strength, and boundless generosity that touched every life she encountered. Born on October 18, 1966, in Villa Park, Illinois, to Virginia and Raymond Gruchalski, Janie was a bright and joyful child (the fifth of six) whose spirit of curiosity and optimism carried her through life’s joys and challenges.
She grew into a beloved educator and champion for others, known for her empathy, perseverance, and compassion.
Janie will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and Glamma, whose love for her two sons and grandson knew no bounds. She celebrated every milestone, offered steady guidance, and filled her family’s lives with laughter and unconditional love. Her deep bond with her siblings created a lifetime of memories marked by warmth, humor, and loyalty.
In her professional life, Janie’s dedication as a teacher shaped countless young lives. Her compassion and authenticity drew people in, turning acquaintances into lifelong friends. She also found joy as a cosmetologist, where her passion for beauty and style reflected her vibrant personality and creative spirit.
Janie is survived by her husband Brett Gobeli; sons Kevin (Julia) Dispensa and Tyler (Kady) Dispensa; grandson Benjamin; and sister Sharee Brell. She was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia and Raymond Gruchalski, and siblings Larry (Pam), Darlene (John), Chris (Brenda), and Scott.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Elburn Lions Club, 500 Filmore St., Elburn, IL, on Saturday, February 21, 2025, at 1 PM. All are welcome to join in sharing stories, photos, and the simple joys that Janie cherished most.
As part of celebrating her life, Janie’s lifelong dream of owning a boutique will be honored through “Janie’s Boutique,” featuring her beautiful clothing and accessories. Guests are invited to take home something special as a way to carry forward a piece of Janie’s style, spirit, and sparkle.
Janie’s light burned brightly, and the embers of her love will continue to warm those she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
