Jane Condon and I knew one another most of our lives. We grew up in the Riverside/Avondale area of Jacksonville and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, now Riverside High School. We attended different colleges and lost contact with one another but reconnected years later and became good friends. We celebrated our birthdays together in July and eventually started having “decade” parties. I have attached photos from our 60th and 80th birthday parties. R.I.P. Jane

Respect could be defined as the ability to value and honor others, even if we don’t share the same views and opinions. It means accepting others and treating them with dignity. This is how Jane Condon ran DASOTA during my years there, 1992-96. She created a unique experience that has never quite been matched at other academic institutions. She was full of class, kindness and strength. We all sat up a little straighter when she walked in the room. When she recited a piece at Showtime that we needed the arts to survive, she did so with such conviction that our younger minds fully agreed. She was a woman ahead of her time, and I hope we can all live that way, pushing ourselves towards the highest good. To Jane’s family, thank you for sharing her.
