Marcia,  We were shocked to hear of James’ passing!   Your husband was one-of-a-kind, a quiet and unassuming individual who always provided interesting topics to a conversation.  We always had a great time at your Mini Tastings and drinking wine and discussing various topics at Orange County Wine Society events throughout the years.
I am so very sorry that Marcia has lost her wonderful husband. James's death is so heartbreaking for his family...
Carlos and I have known James and Marcia for many years. What a great entertaining couple! James always the greatest host in his humble quiet way. We had many great evenings at their home with their many friends and guests. James, the fun, loving, intelligent, humble host committed to helping Marcia create a wonderful evening for all. We will miss his smiling face. We miss him dearly.

I have so many fond memories of James.  He was a formidable opponent on the tennis courts and always a gracious partner.  Loved his quiet subtle humor and remember the bridge games in Palm Desert and the fun days in Big Bear.  He had such a beautiful garden and was always eager to show off his roses.  Our prayers are with you Marcia during this sad time?

I'm so sorry for the loss of James. I'll always think of him whenever someone says"tell me about your job."  I was always told by my parents I might not understand what job his job was because it was over our heads. I remember proudly steping up, and asking him one time when I was in my 20s. Uncle James starts sharing and explaining what he does and I'm feeling smart! I'm following what he's saying and feeling engaged, asking questions, feeling oh so smart and something changes. It's like there was a shift and I hear his voice but what he is telling me is not computing but feels like another language to my horror. I politely listened my hardest as he finished up explaining to my poor oversaturated mind.  After that we talked mostly of family and what books we where reading. All the Vaughans love to read and much bonding still occurs when we talk about what's currently on our nightstand. Thinking of that story always makes me smile and how super smart my Uncle James was. I will miss how gracious and kind he was to everyone around and the abundant love for family.

Our sincere condolences to the entire Vaughn family.  It has been a few years since we have seen James, but we have fond memories of such nice times with James & Marcia during the many Turtle Rock get togethers.

I am sorry I will not be able to attend the celebration of life/

Dear Marcia,

So sorry to hear.  Unbelievable  to go so fast, and so young!  Heartfelt sympathy to you and your family.   And to think that we might have seen him at the Tennis Reunion just mere days before.   Good memories include Big Bear and Turtle Rock Holiday gatherings.  Best, Gail and Jim

We enjoyed time with James on a few occasions while travelling. Our sincere condolences at his untimely passing.
Dearest Marcia,
I remember you gave me a ride to one of the social events that you planned and your husband drove us. He was so gracious and hospitable. It was a treat to enter your lovely home and share that ride. I’m sure life will be tough for you and your family for a long while, so please reach out to me. I’m your neighbor after all.
Sincerely
Rose Bell
Bill and I have traveled with Marcia and James two times, once to our timeshare in Mexico and once to our alternate timeshare in Williamsburg,
VA. In the later trip, he did all the driving and got us everywhere we needed to be using an early version of GPS. We all had a great time on that trip. Of course there have been many dinners at their home where James was always a wonderful host and 'bartender". He is sorely missed! Diana and Bill

What is there to say about James Vaughan the “Southern Gentleman”? He cruised through life and never looked back and did it his way.

We met James and Marcia thirty plus years ago and spent a lot of time vacationing to places like Rosarito, Mexico, sailing trips to Catalina, dining, shows, and just recently playing Canasta…things we all enjoyed doing together.

After James retired, he joined the Wednesday golf get together. Most of the group he already knew and always welcomed newcomers. However, he was not happy about getting up early for the weekly round but always arrived with a smile on his face.

James will be missed and remembered for a long, long time.
