James's obituary
James Herman Harpp was born to the late Precious and Sallie Harpp on March 27, 1949. He fell asleep in death, surrounded by his family on Friday, January 6, 2023.
James grew up and lived his early years in Lake County Leesburg, Florida, graduating from Carver Heights High School. He met his lovely wife Evelyn in 1969. Together they ventured to Atlanta, Georgia, where they raised their four beautiful children. James grew to love Jehovah God and symbolized it by water baptism, as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1971.
He was affectionately known by many, as a genuinely good man. He would give you the shirt off his back. Some of his friends referred to him as Jim, Jellybean, and Duck. Others referred to him as “Uncle Mid”, but most of his friends referred to him as “Brother Harpp”, because he truly was a brother, especially in times of distress.
James never met a stranger; he was a social butterfly. He was known by many for having a kind and wise heart. He loved his family and was a hard worker. He was a jack of all trades and a master of most. He loved to catch fish, gardening, travel at times on Alaskian expeditions, and shared his catch with his friends at the “Harpp Annual Fish Fry”. He also had a deep love for people. He would talk about his Heavenly Father Jehovah to anyone who would listen and diligently helped many to do the same.
James Harpp is survived by his loving wife Evelyn Peacock Harpp of fifty-three years, his daughter Denise (Chris), son Jamison (Shawnta), son Jermaine (Ashley), and grandson Darius (Keiyanna), Courtney (Destinee), Corey, Markeith, granddaughters London and Autumn, great-grandson Eason, and great-granddaughter Elani, brother, David Harpp, sisters Maxine Daily, Sarah Walls, Essie Prior, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as his extended spiritual family of almost 8 million brothers and sisters.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Precious and Sally Mae Harpp, sisters Valley Rolle, Christine Harpp, Teresa Jackson, and daughter Dinah Morman.
James looked forward to God’s promise to humankind at John 5:28,29 “Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life…”
