Huong and I connected through our love of 80’s euro wave music. Everything happened so fast, and we decided to get married six months after we started dating. I loved him every day until his last breath. Huong was the most romantic, loving, caring, kind, and selfless person. One thing I’ll miss was that he would always text, give me cards, and flowers for special occasions, such as on my birthday, Valentine’s, anniversaries, and never failed, even while he was in the hospital. He would ask our daughter Heather to buy cards for him to give to me when I visited. That was the type of person Huong was, always thinking about others. He would always keep in touch with his relatives, friends, and colleagues and check in on them through phone calls or emails, even to say a simple hello.
We have had many ups and downs throughout the years, but we could overcome all of them. We experienced everything that we promised to God during our wedding vows, and it indeed was until death do us part. I can say that my relationship with Huong was the most beautiful thing that happened in my life. He was my best friend and supporter. I am grateful that I loved him every day and was blessed with three children, and married for 34 years. For me, loving and taking care of him was the most rewarding and satisfying feeling.
Huong, please rest well and peacefully now that you’re with God in heaven. Farewell for now, and till we meet again.
You are always in my heart forever. I will miss you so much!
Your wife,
Leng

My heart is still heavy with this news. Condolences to Leng, Harvey, Heather and Harold. Houng was a caring friend and father figure to us. He opened his heart and family to us. Many of our fond memories from living in California include times we shared with Houng and the family. He always had a funny joke or a story to tell and just made everyone happy. He gave himself even if it was inconvenient. Our extended family members who visited from Nigeria always met him because no matter how short their visit was, Houng would find a way to stop by to see them. We are grateful to God for giving us the opportunity to know Houng. He will always be remembered
Leng, Harvey, Heather and Harold- We love you all and will always be here for you. May God comfort you as He knows best.

My heart is heavy with the passing of my friend and another of member our MPE/HP3000 family. My deepest heartfelt sympathies to all of Huong’s family and friends.
Huong was a soft spoken, but also a very caring, giving and thoughtful person. We can all learn and improve following his example.
Huong would always joke with me about being a movie star because of some recorded MPE Operating System internals training he watched where I taught some of the sections. Our early days at Hewlett-Packard in building 47U in Cupertino and the MPE lab ‘family’ will always be some of our fondest memories. After the eventual market demise of the HP3000 computer system and breakup of the MPE operating system lab we all went different ways, some within HP & some external, but we all still felt close as part of the MPE/HP3K family.
Huong, you are missed my friend. Best wishes on the next phase of the journey along the path…
P.S. Although I would very much like to attend the Celebration of Life for Huong in person, I will not be able to as I have just returned from an extended stay in Idaho and need to self-isolate, but I will be attending virtually

My heart is so heavy today. My thoughts and prayers are with Lucy, Harold, Harvey, Heather and the immediate family. Mr. Ho was a wonderful and courageous man. I am blessed and thankful to have known and work with Mr. Ho while he was at the VA Palo Alto.

It was a privilege to be a part of Huong's care team at the Palo Alto VA and to witness the love and devotion of his family. I was inspired and awed by how hard they all fought this truly difficult disease. He will be missed....

Take your self down to the river,
Wash away your sorrows and pain
Drape yourself in its tenderness,
Feel the pained heartbeats that came before.
Follow the thrashing water,
Follow it into the narrow.
The tears that you shed,
The tears from the thousand years past,
Is the heartbeat of the roaring river.
My brother, my river.
