My heartfelt condolences to Faust's family, and especially you Karina and your beautiful kids. I remember when you came to his office with the baby where I first met you. Faust loved you and those kids so much! He loved working in education, was very passionate about his work, and yes- direct and to the point leader, yet always carried a smile, and encouraged his teams.

I first met Faust when he became the CIO/AVP at CSUB, and I reported to him directly. Faust started at a time when my late husband’s illness was getting worse. Faust supported me, shared very kind words,  and helped me through a very difficult time in my life working through challenging decisions.

Please reach out if you would like to get in touch with me.  I would be happy to be a listening ear, a crying shoulder,  and share my journey with you, anytime. May God’s love, comfort, and peace be with you through your journey!

I only knew Faust for a short time as I work for a partner/vendor of CSUB.  In the short time I did know him, I found him to be fair, honest and, most of all, direct.  Very good qualities!  I'm so sorry for your loss and hope the best for you and your family in the future.

My condolences to Faust's family.  I truly enjoyed the opportunity I had to call Faust a friend as well as a co-worker at UC Merced.  Not to mention a great work-out partner.   He always provided encouragement and support to those who needed it.   I regret not having kept in communication more frequently after he left UC Merced .

My heart goes out to Karina and the kids during this difficult time.

1979, Terra Bella, CA, USA
Well, Faust, first off, I wish I'd touched base with you a few more in these last few years. I'd been thinking a lot about the old days lately and this news came as a shock.

In the summer of1978 or 1979 a little family arrived on our dusty road with their Bekin's boxes. A young boy just my age showed up in our drive, stuck his hand out and introduced himself in a very confident, adult way. This was in his "Robert" phase. He said they came from some place called "Gardena". He had stories of living in Saudi Arabia and other exotic places. We exchanged phone numbers... it's still the only Terra Bella I remember other than our own: 535-5380. We kept the phones busy on summer days, finding out if the other was available to play. We played war games, basketball, pool in the first real pool table I'd ever seen. We camped out in his backyard... memorable for a cat having given birth in the tent alongside us. We played with toy soldiers, then Star Wars figures, various Matchbox items, then Atari, Intellivision, Coleco games, Commodore 64. We shot 22's, set maybe a few accidental brush fires, had a few orange fights, sword fights with sticks, did some batting practice together, wrestled. I went with him to Bakersfield some nights when Mrs. Gorham was working on getting her teaching credential, and we burned through a lot of (his) quarters playing Pac-man there. Robert always seemed to know how to navigate in any environment... he knew just who to call when I spilled Coke all over the Pac-Man console. Clara (Mrs.Gorham) even invited my sister and I to spend summer with the family in Torreon... there was no way my folks would approve that kind of distant trip, but I kind of wish we'd gone. Sadly, our street was the dividing line between two rural school districts, so we didn't attend primary school together, but we spent so many after school and summer hours together... and I really miss those times.

Faust: miss you, your Mom, family. May God bless your family.
