My condolences to Faust's family.  He was a lovely person and personable.   We first met Faust through our daughter Linda, the Davis connection.    My husband gave him this advice:  "Buy the cheapest house on the block and you will benefit."  Faust said it worked!
It is with a heavy heart that I express my condolences to the family. I met Faust on the CSUB campus where we both worked. He always had a warm greeting and wide smile. He carried himself in such a way that you felt honored to be greeted by him. He is greatly missed by all.

My deepest condolences to Faust's family. I first met Faust when we were students together at UC Davis in the early 1990's, and we began our technology careers together there as well. We camped and traveled together in Tahoe, the Sierras, Yosemite, and Washington state. We learned to rock climb together. He was there the day I first met Lora, and years later he spoke at our wedding. He carried our first-born, Ryan, on his shoulders as we hiked together in Yosemite. He beat us at badminton, poker, and all manner of board games. He made the best chili I have ever had, and he threw the best parties. And throughout all of those moments, he was one of the kindest, warmest, most generous, and most genuine people I have ever known. My heart aches, and I can't begin to imagine what a difficult time this is for those closest to him. He will always be in our hearts.

My deepest condolences. I was a classmate of Faust’s in Fresno State’s doctoral program. He was dedicated to serving his community and passionate about providing people with opportunity through education. He always talked about how proud he was of his family, and I know he will always be with them in spirit.

My sincere condolences to the Gorham family for the loss of your father, husband, and brother.

I was fortunate to work with Faust as an academic technology leader and decision maker for CSUB.  He was dedicated to the university and its mission to serve its students while optimizing their learning experiences with innovative technology strategies and outstanding technical support.  He expected the highest standards for the CSUB community which extended to his work and support of the greater Calstate university technology diaspora.

I am very grateful to have been able to work with him!

My condolences to Faust's family. I first met Faust at UC Merced, I had just started in the Human Resources Department over 13 years ago and our Chief HR Officer had collaborated with IT to do a training. I was nervous since it was my first time handling the instructional technology in the room. Faust smiled and greeted me, then he proceeded by saying the entire room IT was there to support us - we all laughed. The training went well and at the end of the session he stayed with us. That was only the first of many positive interactions and collaborations that followed. He was always professional, eloquent, full of kindness and great energy.

I feel privileged to have known him and grateful for all the memories we shared at UC Merced.

Dear Karina, Mishka, Faust and Atlas,

My thoughts and prayers for strength and comfort continue for you all. My heart breaks with you as you learn how to be without Faust. I know that you were the light of his life and he was so proud of his family. I know his loss will always be felt and I pray your memories with him hold you close.

I worked for Faust as his executive assistant at CSUB for 7 years. From the time I first entered the office in ITS at CSUB until the last time I saw him, I always felt appreciated and supported. He was not only an amazing leader and mentor, but he took the time to teach when you had no idea how to do what he asked. He did this while never making you feel insufficient for not knowing. He knew so much about so much. He was the best boss I have ever had, and an incredible mentor to me. He mentored so many people at CSUB and it was effortless for him to guide and teach. He was always asking, “What do you want to do? How do you want to grow?”. Because Faust kept telling me that it is never too late to go after what you want, in the Fall of 2020, I applied and was accepted to start classes towards my bachelor’s degree in business administration. It has been tough to manage with my lifestyle, but Faust never stopped pushing me and encouraging me. I am so grateful that he believed in me and supported me as I started this educational journey.

Faust was loved and highly respected by many at CSUB and leaves such a gaping hole in our leadership, so I can only imagine how many lives were impacted elsewhere. He pushed his team toward greatness and really did develop a best-in-class Information Technology team that I am honored to be a part of. He was a visionary who knew when to push forward but knew when to have a little fun also. The organization always looked forward to the social times as we always knew to expect great food.

I feel like I have become a better professional because of Faust. I am deeply saddened at this incredible loss, but so glad he is not suffering. What an inspiration he was, even up to his final days.

So sorry for your loss. God bless you all.

Faustino

You are a wonderful man that made a difference in this world.  You were the right professional at the right time at UC Merced.

I will always remember how you always looked so put together and professional .  Always greeting with a firm handshake and a welcoming bright smile.  Somehow you managed to meet too many requests with too little resources.  I am sure you worked way too many hours beyond those for which you were compensated.  I know that you made many personal sacrifices and like the leader that you are you never manifested the burden.

Faustino your unselfish contributions are at the core of the foundation upon which UC Merced stands today. Thank you for what you gave to the students and university community.  Admissions could not have succeeded without your help.  I will always be remember and be grateful to you.

Que dios te bendiga siempre!

Hasta luego,

Chon

I am deeply saddened to hear about Faust’s passing. I send love and condolences to his wife, children, and friends.

Faust was such an important member of our community, especially at CSU, Bakersfield. In 2020, during the pandemic and when our campus transitioned to virtual instruction, Faust was at the forefront ensuring that students and professors, along with faculty and staff, were able to stay connected. I was a member of student government during this time, and I would see Faust during our weekly ASI virtual meetings where he would report and listen to student needs. For students experiencing technology barriers, Faust found ways to ensure that they had access to laptops and hotspots through the loaner program which was vital to student success and retention… and I know he did so much more for us.

In 2021, while working to complete my MPA thesis, and reached out to Faust for guidance, since technology was his expertise. Faust met with me virtually to help answer all of my questions and played an important role in my final thesis. Thank you, Faust.

Faust was such a great person and will be missed dearly by all of us.

Faust and I started working in ITS at CSUB at the same time. It was my first full-time job, and Faust was a genuine mentor to me. He inspired me to always do my best, and invited me to meetings and projects that he knew would build up my knowledge, skills, and self-confidence. Faust was truly a transformative force and CSUB will never be the same without his leadership and presence.

I was deeply saddened to hear about Faust's passing. I met Faust when I was a graduating senior serving student government in 2015 and he had just joined CSU Bakersfield. I then went on to work as a staff member for about 6 years.

From the first moment I met him, I always remember him having an amazing and upbeat energy. Faust always gave a friendly greeting when I passed him. He was one of the happy faces that makes CSUB a great place to work and to be.

Faust was always championing an important cause or project - from the seemingly small tasks to the large campus initiatives. I don't know how he was able to keep so well organized, but his skills and leadership were never lost on me and I had nothing but admiration and respect for him.

The last time that I saw Faust in person (Fall 2022), he was taking one of his regular lunch break walks around the campus and listening to an audiobook. He might have missed some moments of his narrator's words, but he didn't hesitate to smile, say hello, and wish me a good day.

Not being particularly close to Faust, I really wanted to share my memories with the family. You didn't have to be close to Faust to be impacted by his positivity. Faust was (and his memory will always be) the type of person that was making a positive impact in the community just by being a part of it.

Faust’s dedication to UCMerced in the early days of the campus’s history set the foundation for others who followed in his footsteps.  We overlapped only briefly, but his professionalism, kindness and good spirit were hallmarks of his work ethic, and I feel privileged to have known him.
Faust was a generous and courageous soul and I will always appreciate his guidance, his insight, and the ambitious way in which he lived. Deep condolences to his family who brought him so much joy.
I first met Faust and got to know him through a trip to Sacramento with the President's Cabinet and the GI Summit. We shared meals all together and chatted. Once you were in his circle, you were always in. Although I am sure everyone was in his circle, and everyone he crossed paths with knew how special he was, I am deeply saddened but fortunate to have gotten to know him over the years. He was a million percent dedicated to CSUB and always extra helpful to me and my many tech questions. He was a genuinely kind person. He will be greatly missed by me and many others at CSUB. Sending love. xoxo
Faust hired me as his executive assistant at CSUB in September 2022.  It was a privilege to work with Faust, he was a great mentor and leader.  He never skipped a beat with so many tasks on hand which was very admirable, and his work ethic was praiseworthy. He ALWAYS walked in the office with a smile, he would crack jokes and was always in a happy mood no matter what was going on.  His positivity and outlook on life was beautiful, he had so many wonderful traits.  So much so, that I make better effort to have the same outlook he did, it made me want to be a better person. The love he had for his wife and 3 children was and is eternal.  Faust always said and promoted "Family First." Within the year that I have known him, I became a fan of the type of boss he was and charted him on top of the list for being one of the best bosses I have had the pleasure to work for.  I will miss having his favorite snacks, dark chocolate, Runner Cafe - Lemon Bars and Oatmeal Cookies, those were such a treat for him! He had high food standards and gave great food recommendations. The department will cherish the memories and carry on his legacy.  CSUB is saddened beyond measure with his passing. We will miss him dearly.
Every time I met Faust he was awesome. He had a great attitude and was a kind man. My family is sad because the world lost a great man. We wish him all the best in the next life!
We were saddened to hear of Fausts passing.  A lot of fun memories of him at the Millennium Sports Club. He would be working out or playing racquetball.  Always laughing, smiling and enjoying life.  He truly was a special person with a kind soul.    Our heart goes out to his beautiful wife Karina, his precious children and family.   Godspeed Faust. Shine brightly from the heavens 💙
