Eric's obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Eric Martin Grose. Eric passed away on October 23, 2024, in the arms of his beloved wife, following a courageous battle with melanoma.
Born on March 16, 1961, in El Paso, Texas, Eric grew up in New Mexico, the cherished son of Gale Grose and Patricia Sharp. He earned a master’s degree in Human Factors Engineering from the University of Southern California. Eric began his career at TRW in Los Angeles, where he met Janet, his wife of 33 years. His career took him to Sandia National Laboratories, Boeing, and Intuit, before he retired to travel across the United States in a travel trailer with his family, embracing a life of independence. He and his family then ventured to Panama, where they backpacked through South America, before ultimately settling down to homestead in Central Texas.
Eric was a lifelong learner with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. A voracious reader and self-taught guitarist, he was filled with wisdom gained from diverse life experiences. He was a man of many talents: farming, mechanics, electrical work, plumbing, building, forestry, and beekeeping. With his remarkable skill set, he could repair or construct nearly anything. Above all, Eric was a wonderful husband, father, and human being who embodied strength, honesty, loyalty, courage, and love, always with a good sense of humor.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janet; his children, Connor and Alexis; his mother, Patricia Sharp; his brother Kennon Grose, sister-in-law Monica Grose and sister Kelly Mohorc with numerous nieces and nephews and their spouses. Eric was proceeded in death by his father, Gale Grose, brother-in-law Dan Mohorc and brother-in-law Terry Dagnon, and several aunts, uncles and grandparents.
Eric faced his final moments with strength, dignity, courage, and grace, leaving a profound impact on all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
Until we meet again, my beloved.
A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Peaceful Pines.
