Eddie's obituary
Born August 24, 1937, in Madaba, Jordan, Eddie Jeries Qsar was the 6th child of nine children of Jeries Salem and Mariam Mansour Qsar. Eddie attended The Good Shepard Elementary School in Bethlehem, Palestine then the Latin Catholic Jr High in Madaba, Jordan, and then moved to Amman, Jordan to finish High School at The Latin Catholic School. Eddie moved to the United States in 1961, with the advice and assistance of his older brother Joseph, settling in Detroit, Michigan to attend University.
He went on to graduate from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and then attended Cal State Dominguez Hills where he earned a Master's Degree in Medical Technology. Eddie moved to San Diego, California in 1970 to be closer to his siblings. In 1972, after a very quick courtship, Eddie and Alia married in Amman, Jordan. And not too long after, they became the parents to Raj, Nader, and Samer.
Eddie was a natural-born leader and always wanted the best for his family. Eddie was the original two-job entrepreneur as he did everything he could to not only provide for his family but help lay the groundwork for years of success and a legacy that will be passed down for generations to come.
With a passion for medicine and helping others and a drive for success, Eddie excelled in his career for 35 years as a Medical Laboratory Supervisor at multiple hospitals in Orange County, California. Somewhere along the journey, Eddie & Alia decided to open up a restaurant in Santa Ana, California which they owned for about 10 years.
A self-made man, Eddie wanted to cultivate the same drive for success in his children. His lessons were never formally taught, they were learned through observation and experience with years and years of hard work, discipline, and relentless determination that everyone around him witnessed. He showed his family & friends that life was too short to compromise on love and that your family always comes first. He demonstrated in real life what love is all about and how important family truly is.
Eddie had quadruple bypass surgery in June of 1998, just one month before his oldest son Raj's wedding, yet still was on the dance floor with the hundreds of people in attendance. He had multiple heart stents from 2008-2018, along with what Alia calls a war map on his belly from various operations and procedures. In July 2020 Eddie had a heart attack which landed him in the hospital for 3.5 months. He made it home under the diligent care of Alia who was the strength of the family, the non-stop visits from his sons, his siblings, and the assistance of multiple caretakers for 2.5 years.
Eddie taught us that we didn't have to conform to the expectations of others. We didn't have to be charming or entertaining, reserved or outgoing (even though he was all of those things). We didn't have to be perfect or fit any particular mold. We only had to be true to ourselves. Eddie showed us how to love hard and also showed us what tough love is. His family was always first in every decision he made. He loved his wife and his kids unconditionally, without any prerequisites or conditions. And he in turn knew that his family's love for him was genuine and everlasting. Eddie's love was a guiding force in life, and we are forever grateful for his presence. He taught his kids how to be good fathers by being one himself and he loved his nine grandchildren with all of his heart.
Eddie passed away on May 5, 2023, at 6:42 am at St. Jude Hospital in Fullerton, California. Eddie will forever be remembered for his passionate love of his family, his endless generosity, his relentless determination, and his massive smile which lit up any room he entered. He is survived by his wife Alia, his son Raj and wife Lisa and grandchildren (Hannah, Emma & Cooper), his son Nader and his wife Karyn and grandchildren (Christian, Madyson & Ava), his son Sam and his wife Elizabeth and grandchildren (Camryn, Carter & Claire). His siblings Kamal, Tony, Adele, and Naeemeh.
