Deb's obituary
Deborah “Deb” Denise Butcher, 56 of San Diego, California passed away on November 19, 2021 after a valiant battle with cancer.
Deb was born on July 28th, 1965 to Anthony & Mary Lou Newbold in San Diego, California. Deb spent her early years in Alpine where she loved riding her horse “Mesquite”. After graduating from Christian High School in 1983, Deb went on to earn her Bachelor's in Psychology from San Diego State University (1988).
After graduating from SDSU, Deb went on to pursue her Masters and Doctoral Degree at CSPP, California School of Professional Psychology (1992-1998).
She spent her pre doctorate hours working under Arlys McDonald, and after obtaining her license continued working independently at the McDonald Therapy Center in Vista. In 2016, Deb found the perfect office, just five minutes from home which helped her with balance of family and work.
Deb helped many people in her work and her patients describe her as “understanding, caring and empathetic”. She helped so many work through trauma and found it especially rewarding working with those serving in active-duty military and veterans.
Even with a successful practice, she still put family first. Deb enjoyed volunteering every chance she could in the classroom and driving for school field trips for both Nikki and Jay throughout their elementary school years.
Deb loved the outdoors and walks with our rescue dog "Gretchen".
Deb loved her “Mornings with Jesus” and would start every day with a devotion, and prayers for her family, her patients and everyone else in her village in need of prayer. She was comforted throughout her battle with the knowledge she would soon see her Savior.
Deb is survived by her loving husband, Michael Butcher, Daughters Nicole and Jay, Father Anthony Newbold, Brothers Tony and Tim Newbold. She is predeceased by her Mother, Mary Lou Newbold Bach and brother Michael Newbold.
A celebration of life will take place at the family home on December 18th. Open House from 11:00-2:00 PM. Please refer to the Events tab for more information.
