David's obituary
David Robert Walker, age 90, of Ocala, Florida, peacefully departed this life on March 8, 2025. David was born on April 22, 1934 in Philadelphia, the second son of John Robert Walker and Naomi Frank Walker. David was born in the Rockledge area of Philadelphia and moved to Chalfont with his parents and brothers in 1940.
David dedicated much of his life to the electric contracting industry, initially working alongside his father at the John R. Walker Company INC. Following his fatherβs retirement, he assumed leadership of the company until his own retirement. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union 98. He was also an active member of The Pleasantville United Church of Christ in Chalfont, Pennsylvania as well as The Open Door Church in Ocala, Florida.
In retirement, David found a profound sense of purpose as a volunteer pilot for Angel Flight Southeast. Over the course of his service, he flew over 500 missions, making him the most prolific single pilot in the organization, transporting patients of critical need to specific treatment centers across the southeast. A private pilot for over 60 years, David resided at Leeward Air Ranch in Ocala since 1989.
David is survived by his partner, Patricia Gordon of Leesburg, Florida, two daughters, Karen Walker Lockett of Ocala, Florida and Laura Walker Rickert along with her husband Leigh Rickert of Boulder, Colorado, and their mother Jane Walker of Oxford, Pennsylvania, a step-son Wesley Leckrone, his wife Jodi and mother Lois Walker of Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by his brothers Charles Walker and wife June of Laguna Beach, California and Robert Walker and wife Eileen of Churchville, Pennsylvania. Additionally, David is cherished by 11 grandchildren, and two great grand children; Jenniah Lockett of Ocala Florida, Christopher Lockett and wife Rebecca of Seattle, Washington, Jordan Walker and daughter Aria Walker of Burlington, Ontario, Tyler Lockett and son Zion of Oxford, Pennsylvania; Chelsea Chamberlain and husband Will Shiverick of Nederland, Colorado, Colbea Chamberlain of Denver, Colorado, Chandler Chamberlain of San Diego, California, Andrew Rickert and wife Kacie of Denver, Colorado, Sam Rickert of Westminster, Colorado, Jennifer Rickert of Seattle, Washington and Cerise Walker of New York City, New York.
David was predeceased by his daughter, Linda A. Walker, sons, David R. Walker Jr., Scott A. Walker and granddaughter, Cicada Jane Chamberlain.
Services will be held at the Leeward Air Ranch in Ocala, Florida on Saturday, May 10 at 11 AM with refreshments to follow. Please indicate that you will be attending the Florida service by rsvping to flyhighpopdave@gmail.com
