I met Dave at a meeting of the US/China Friendship Society, and I thought he was very handsome. As I got to know him, I was able to find the person who shared my hopes for the world. I finally felt less offbeat and began to study harder to understand the theory and practice of revolution. It is hard for people in this day and time to understand the courage that was required to raise your voice. It is now so random and routine, that you would never know how marginalized and intimidating it was for most of us. But for Dave there was always such confidence in the message and commitment to truth. He never relaxed his ideological vigilance. Only one year into our relationship he wanted to have children, I objected that we were too broke, but he had confidence once more, that it would all be fine, and in fact, we brought two remarkable people into the world. His legacy of dedication to social justice, is imprinted on our daughters and grandsons, who have inherited his incredible intellect and individuality.
