David's obituary

David HUFF, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, caring and loyal friend and faithful shepherd; passed away on April 3, 2023. Born on November 20, 1935, in Hamlin, Alberta, Canada, David lived a life that was filled with love, kindness, and compassion for others. He will be deeply missed by his immediate and extended family, many dear friends, spiritual brothers and sisters and former colleagues.

Before retiring in January 1990, David dedicated his professional life to the pursuit of justice, serving as the Regional Director of Northern Alberta Law Courts for the Department of Justice. His unwavering commitment to fairness and integrity made him a respected figure within the legal and judicial community, and he played a significant role in shaping the lives of many individuals throughout his career.

When he wasn't working, David found joy in a variety of hobbies such as gardening, road tripping through much of Canada and the USA, (often to visit with family) to beautiful landscapes with his loving wife of 66 years; Gayle, watching hockey games and nature shows with her at home, and spending quality time with his beloved children and grandchildren. He was an diligent volunteer in the community, teaching the bible to many; and a faithful and steadfast elder within his congregation. These passions were strong driving factors for him and brought him closer to the many people in his life, creating countless memories that will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

David's warm, thoughtful, and caring personality endeared him to everyone he met. He was well known and much respected for his warm kindness and friendliness to all he met, as he had an undeniable ability to make a genuine connection with others. His legacy of warmth, love and compassion will live on through the countless lives he touched.

David is survived by his loving wife Gayle, son Chris (Kim), daughter Teesha Borelli (Gino), and daughter in law Debbie (Clinton).  He was a loving and devoted grandfather to Brendan, Taleana (Ben), Dakota (Nathan) and Tarlin and he recently was thrilled to meet his first great grandchild, Wynston.  David was predeceased by his beloved son Clinton in 2013. The bond he shared with his family was truly special, and the memories of their time together will be a source of comfort and strength for them during this difficult time. The outpouring of love and support from friends, family, brothers and sisters in faith and former colleagues, is a testament to the incredible impact David had on so many lives.

As David has a temporary "sleep" in death, awaiting the soon to come resurrection to a paradise on earth that he firmly believed in, we honour his life by remembering his strong faith and the love, kindness, and compassion that he shared with everyone he met. His warm and gentle spirit will be deeply missed, but the memories of his beautiful life will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.

John 5:27, 28- "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment."

Rev 21:3, 4- "Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away."
