A memory I have is when Dave & I worked a National show together in Atlanta. I got a really bad cold during the trip & he went & got me medicine at a drugstore near our hotel.  Another memory is having him come into my market in North Carolina & us getting to spend quality time together.  Dave & Jody came & spent the night with Bruce & I at our house in Zephyrhills, FL.   The next morning Dave was backing out his rental car from our driveway & he hit our neighbors car across the street.  We notified them but there was no damage.  Thank goodness.  Dave always showed an interest in what was happening in my life both professional & personal.  Good Cousin, Good Boss & Good Friend.
Dear Jody, Matt, Chad, and Todd, I am so very sorry to hear about David’s passing. I was blessed to know him and work with him for many years. He had great compassion for people and was very kind and supportive to me and my family throughout the years. May you be comforted and feel God’s peace and healing during this time.

Hello Jody, Matt, Chad and Todd.

David Geise played a very big role in my life. His humility and love for The Lord was a great encouragement to me and The Lord used Him to shape my character. I am forever grateful to The Lord for giving me the opportunity to work alongside David for almost 20 years. While I was saddened by his passing, I am rejoicing because of his victory over death in Christ Jesus! I love each of you in The Lord.

I've known David all my life and even started working for Furmano's before he progressed to the presidency.  I recall the great times when we as a family got together at my grandparents' house for the holidays and the New Jersey cousins were the brunt of pranks by the older cousins.

But I also cherish the mission trips we shared sponsored by our church.  We worked together in Panama around 2008 and again in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake.  I found pictures from the Haiti trip.

Memories of David Geise

I knew David for (24) years. Initially our involvement was on a professional basis but soon developed into one of mutual respect and interests in what God was doing in our individual, family, and business lives. He impacted my life in many ways, and his “memory” is imprinted on my heart.

Through many interactions with David, I soon recognized and appreciated that David was a man of God and totally committed to Him.    Actions that were taken related to business or in his personal life were bathed in prayer and balanced against Biblical principles.

David was a builder of relationships, and it was his emphasis on this that became the glue that held and strengthened our relationship. He influenced me and countless others through his continual display of faith in God and actions that supported his faith.   His “walk matched his talk”.

Periodic phone calls with David about business or life in general always ended with us “circling the wagons” with him reaffirming that “God is good all the time”.  Moments of levity were interspersed with periods of serious discussions.  David’s faith shown strongest when he was under some of the most difficult of life's circumstances.

David was passionate about unity, whether related to family or business matters, and his desire and actions toward achieving unity are fixed in my mind. He didn’t compromise on what God expected, but he was always sensitive to others’ positions and feelings.

Even the strongest eagle cannot fly in a “vacuum”, and Jody, as David’s helpmate, provided the atmosphere for him to grow and develop the way that God had intended. Thank you, Jody, for being the “wind beneath David’s wings” all these years. He and the rest of your family and friends are blessed by the atmosphere you nourished.

Bevie and I just want to say…“Thanks for the memories”.

My favorite memory of David was actually that of an argument that we had.  In the midst of a large scale soup production for benefit we doing for hurricane survivors in Haiti where we were producing different soups in 3 different location, we had a disagreement on the amount of ingredients I sent to one of our satellite kitchens which led to a rather loud confrontation.  David was never one to get very loud, so that alone made it memorable.

What made it a fond memory was later that day.  When we finished the task at hand.  As he congratulated the team for a job well done, he made it a point to apologize to me in front of the large group.  This demonstrated not only David's great leadership, but also was an amazing example of his servant mentality.  Not many people in his position would make it a point to say "I was wrong" in such a public setting.  He taught me a great lesson on how a true leader reacts to adversity and how, no matter where we are in the world, we are still here in the service of others for the glory of God.   We are only as strong as when we are weakest.   David embraced that idea.

David always made it a point to stop and have a conversation with you as he passed by.  Those small conversations were where he bonded with people and showed he cared.  He will be missed but his influence will live on.

David,  was a mentor with a long deep vision of what could be possible for Furmano's. He made my daily life exciting with challenges and wins. We together, tackled Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and Wendy's and had a great adventure with TVG. I will always be grateful for his willingness to take me on, from a competitor and will always cherish our times together, especially when he insisted we take a few hours out of our busy California tomato trip to visit the giant redwoods. Rest in peace my friend.
So grateful to have met this man at the Furmano’s farm where his church’s Guatemala mission team welcomed us to come and visit with them and our mutual friend, Karina Navichoc, and her family, as they visited from Guatemala. We met again while in Guatemala for our WV team.  David had brought his extended family there on a family mission. What an absolute treasure to witness this servant act of leading others to experience the joy of mission and building relations with others. I was incredibly inspired by this act of Christian love and mentorship. Blessings to his family and friends. I share in your sorrow, and celebrate Dave’s life with you as well. Well done thy good and faithful servant!
Dave's example of Christlike humility and faithfulness amidst adversity inspired me more than words can express. Most recently, in my attempt to express my admiration to Dave, in his typical fashion, he reflected all that he has accomplished to the one who created him!

I am so grateful I had the opportunity to work with him on finding lumber suitable to his woodworking passion. Even recently, while in declining health, we met at his farm to look at barn beams he wanted to re-work to build a table. His perseverance was amazing.

Heidi and I have been blessed to have Dave and Jody as our friends and co-laborers in God's kingdom.

Whether out in the community or at the plant, David always had a smile and an encouraging word. It was a blessing to have known him!
