Darrell Arnold Beard, Jr., affectionately known as Skip, passed away on March 13, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on September 12, 1951, in Freeport, NY, to Ollie Lorraine Tucker and Darrell Arnold Beard, Sr., Skip resided in Cold Spring, NY. Like his father, Skip became a military pilot after earning his undergraduate degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach. He began his naval career on November 12, 1973, and served with distinction as an A-6 Intruder pilot aboard the USS Midway, retiring as a Lieutenant Commander.

Skip leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, carried forward by his two sons, David and Adam Beard, who were his greatest pride. He was also a beloved grandfather to Chloe and Ezra Beard, whose charm and affection brought immense joy to his life.

Beyond his distinguished military career, Skip was passionate about his family, dogs, and horseback riding. Through heartfelt conversations and shared moments, he made a lasting impact that bettered the lives of everyone he met, in his own unique way. Skip’s spirit of service, love, and joy continues to inspire us.

Skip was buried with military honors at Arlington National Cemetery July, 11th, 2025.
