Craig's obituary
After 72 years of bringing joy, kindness, love, creativity, curiosity and laughter to the world, Craig London went on yet another journey. His heart finally gave out on November 6, 2022 at his home.
Craig was born in Detroit in 1950 to Ronald and Judy London. He earned his bachelor’s degree in physical therapy in 1973 from Wayne State University. After graduating, he left Detroit for San Francisco, then moved to Saginaw, MI where he met his soulmate, Marty Atwood. They were married and finally settled in Washington State. They lived first in Seattle, where their beloved son, Adam was born. In 1995, he and his family moved to Camano Island.
A gifted physical therapist, Craig used his unique skills and holistic approach to improve his patients’ lives, the field of physical therapy, and his colleagues’ professional development. He was ahead of his time as a key player in the establishment of a multidisciplinary treatment facility, the Center For Comprehensive Care. His skilled hands, compassion and ability to share a laugh benefited many throughout his career. Teaching was as important to him as working with patients. As a mentor, he enjoyed sharing his knowledge of the human body with others, including physical therapists and yoga students. He was also a proud entrepreneur who thrived as an owner in several private practices, including TEAM Physical Therapy and Olympic Physical Therapy. Outside of work, he never stopped helping people, including strangers on the street who happened to mention a physical ailment. He would go out of his way to help.
An accomplished woodworker and furniture maker, Craig helped establish the Northwest Gallery of Fine Woodworking in Seattle’s Pioneer Square, eventually leaving the gallery to focus on his physical therapy career and raising a family. After a heart attack in 2002 forced him to retire from physical therapy practice, Craig spent much of his time in his beloved wood shop, creating beautiful pieces for family and friends.
Love guided all that Craig did in life. Above all, he loved his family and friends. He loved his dog CoCo. He loved to create. He loved wood. He loved golf. He loved wine. He loved to cook and bake. He loved his garden. He loved nature. He loved to laugh. He loved to see people happy and always did his best to help others achieve happiness. Craig loved life and we know he wasn’t ready to leave.
Craig is survived by his wife Marty, their son and daughter-in-law Adam and Amelia, and his brothers, Rick and Scott.
There will be a celebration of Craig’s life on January 14th at the Camano Center, 606 Arrowhead Rd, Camano Island, WA.
