Cora's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Corazon “Cora” Anin Cabansagan on March 11, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Cora was born in Manila, Philippines, on February 6, 1950, to Erlinda Pareño and Cresencio Anin. After the passing of her father when she was young, she was lovingly raised by her mother, Erlinda, and her stepfather, Simplicio Veras. She was one of eight children.
In 1972, Cora graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Far Eastern University and went on to dedicate 34 years to the profession as a Registered Nurse, with nearly 30 years of service at San Francisco General Hospital. Throughout her career, she cared for countless patients with compassion and unwavering commitment while guiding and mentoring the next generation of nurses. In 2006, shortly before retirement, she received the prestigious DAISY Award, recognizing her exceptional compassion and dedication as a nurse and the meaningful impact she had on patients and their families.
Even in retirement, Cora’s heart for service continued. She kept her nursing license active until 2013 and remained deeply involved in community work as an active volunteer with the Daly City Host Lions Club, helping to spearhead health fairs and medical missions both locally and overseas.
Over a decade ago, she faced a stage 4 lung cancer diagnosis. Through God’s grace and advancements in cancer treatment, our family was blessed with many more precious years with her, filled with love and cherished memories.
Cora was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a generous supporter of others and a woman admired for her steadfast spirit and perseverance. Her Christian faith was central to her life, guiding how she loved, served, and encouraged others. She faithfully supported her husband, Alfonso Cabansagan, Jr., in planting a predominantly Filipino church in Daly City, Family Christian Fellowship, and in advancing ministries and educational initiatives that uplift communities in the Philippines. Cora faithfully served the church in Daly City, where she inspired others through her dedication to the women’s, children’s, and hospitality ministries. She especially enjoyed preparing meals for the congregation, and many were touched by her quiet generosity and tireless acts of service.
Above all, Cora was deeply devoted to her family. With gentleness and humility, she worked quietly behind the scenes, giving her children and grandchildren a lifetime of love, guidance, and selfless care. She expressed that love in many ways: cooking for her family, especially her beloved chicken adobo—a favorite among the grandchildren, sharing new culinary experiences, and traveling across the globe. Her resilience, wisdom, and kindness left a lasting impact on all who knew and loved her.
Cora is survived by her husband, Alfonso; her mother-in-law Paz; her children Alex (Pauline), Mary-Anne, Clarrissa, and Cristina; her stepchildren Adrian (Love), JC (Paula), and Mary (Daniel); and 14 cherished grandchildren: Lance, Aubrey, Heart, Iyannah Lovie, Liv Ryanne, Selah, Lily, Caleb, Joshua, Noah, Mary Grace, Dylan, Tatum, and Cohen, along with many extended family members and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Cresencio Anin; mother, Erlinda Veras; stepfather, Simplicio Veras; and brother, Jose “Nonoy” Anin.
Though dearly missed, her family takes comfort in the faith that extended her years, and in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. As Psalm 116:15 reminds us: “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.”
Cora’s life will be remembered for her faith, strength, generosity, mercy, and deep love for her family. She lived with quiet yet profound courage, a devoted heart, and a steadfast faith that guided her every step. Her influence lives on in the countless lives she touched, including the patients she cared for throughout her many years as a nurse, the beautiful family she nurtured, and the communities she passionately supported.
Cora’s unyielding kindness and joyful demeanor will be profoundly missed. She was especially cherished by her children and grandchildren, who stand as a living testament to her nurturing care. We take comfort in knowing she rests now in the eternal presence of God, surrounded by love and peace.
