Background
Our beloved mother, Cora Cabansagan, dedicated her life to caring for others. A selfless public servant, she was a Registered Nurse for 34 years, with nearly 30 years at San Francisco General Hospital & Trauma Center. She compassionately cared for critically injured trauma patients and mentored new nurses into the profession.
She simultaneously loved and served her local community at Family Christian Fellowship and the Daly City Host Lions Club. Cora's generosity of time and resources well extended beyond these spheres to include her family members scattered globally and various ministries and medical missions in the Philippines.
Her kindness, strength, and generosity touched countless lives both inside and outside the hospital.
In her later years, our mother faced tremendous health challenges with remarkable courage. She battled a severe case of psoriasis which forced her into early retirement. Most recently, she fought an incredibly brave 11-year battle against lung cancer, a remarkable journey of determination and strength. Despite this hardship, she continued to face each day with resilience, grace, and an unwavering faith.
Our family is heartbroken by her passing after a sudden stroke, but we are deeply grateful for the love, lessons, and compassion she shared with us and countless others.
As we prepare to lay our mother to rest and celebrate the beautiful life she lived, we humbly ask for your support. In lieu of flowers, our family invites those who wish to honor Cora’s memory to consider making a donation.
Funds raised will go toward:
- Funeral and memorial service expenses
- A Celebration of Life gathering (details to be shared soon)
- Any outstanding medical bills; and
- Setting up a fund in her name to give back to healthcare workers, further lung cancer research, and support her grandchildren who meant the world to her.
Any contribution, no matter the size, will help us give our mother the loving farewell she deserves and preserve the legacy she leaves behind.
Cora lived a life defined by service, compassion, resilience, and devotion to her family. One of the best ways we can honor her memory is by continuing to support the people and causes she loved most.
Thank you for your kindness, prayers, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
We are ever grateful to the phenomenal healthcare professionals who supported her at the Stanford Medicine Cancer Center and Neuro Intensive Care Unit, California Pacific Medical Center, and the UCSF Psoriasis & Skin Treatment Center. Contribute
